Limberjack

Medicine and Fire for your Soul

About Me

When someone hears the sounds of Limberjack for the first time, they usually have the same reaction. “I don’t know what the hell that is, but it’s really good.” Truth be told, the boys in the band aren’t really sure what the hell it is either. All they know is that the music they’re making is fresh, raw, and by far one of the most artistic things to be braved inside the bubble of Nashville in a very long time, if not ever. Front man Matt King once called Limberjack “Somewhere between O’ Brother Where art thou and Marilyn Manson.” That description is not inaccurate, but doesn’t even begin to scratch the surface of what is really happening here. These guys aren’t merely recording experimental music in a time of mass market manufactured pop stars. They’re changing all the rules. Limberjack is much more than a band. It is a collaboration of some of Nashville’s greatest hearts, minds, and talents. Drummer Paul Deakin and bassist Robert Reynolds, both formerly of the Mavericks, are the perfect compliment to Kings vision. All three have experienced the highest, and lowest, points of the music industry. They are the exquisite culmination of Grammy awards, and unpaid bills. Hard work, and hard knocks. And they all know that what they are doing now has changed them, and the music that they love, forever. The songs of Limberjack come from a place that most bands in this day and age would never dare to brave. They are real songs about real issues that people don’t like talking about. Crystal meth, crooked politicians, obsessive love, and religious murderers are only the beginning. They tackle the subjects that are affecting each and every one of us today. They aren’t afraid to tell the truth, or stir the proverbial pot. All the while, being done with a sound that has never been heard before, and likely will never be duplicated. No words could ever compare to experiencing Limberjack first hand. Everything you know and feel about music will be thrown out the window at the first sound of this band tearing at your ears and stirring the most primal juices that have lain dormant in all of us for so long. It might live in a dark basement apartment in a bad neighborhood of a big city, but it came down from the mountain, and it’s scaring the children.-Samir Osman
