When a child is born, so is a Grandmother. ****************** Woo-hoo! I became a Grandma May 27!

About Me

I married at 22 and was widowed at 24. My beloved husband, the love of my life, was killed in a motorcycle accident one week before our second wedding anniversary. I was left behind, three months pregnant. I gave birth to our son, and I totally threw myself into raising him...he was my number one priority. I was deeply involved in every aspect of his young life...school, extracurricular activities. He's 29 now, has a bachelor's degree, is married and recently became the proud daddy of an adorable baby girl. Mission accomplished.I'm 54 years old and truly looking forward to my evolving role as Grandma. In the meantime, I have a ten-year old Pomeranian...my furry child. He keeps me busy and laughing.* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

My Interests

************************************************************ ********** Long before I learned I was going to be a Grandma, I saw an episode of "Reba", where she sings "Angel's Lullaby" to her new grandbaby. That song really touched me! Due to copyright issues, the original video is no longer available from YouTube, but I found this slideshow which features the song. Have a listen! *********************************** *********************************** I love Panda Bears, and there's a story behind my love of the cuddly critters. When my son was very young, we were watching "Sesame Street" on television together. They showed a video clip of animals...mommies and babies, romping around. When a mama and baby Panda appeared, my little one said, "Look! There's Mama and me!" My family have always been on the heavy side, and that's how my child saw us. Well...it could have been worse. He might have chosen the mama and baby Hippo or Elephant! (LOL) Anyway...that's how the Panda Bear became "our" symbol. ************************************************************ **********I love Snoopy...actually the whole Peanuts gang! ************************************************************ **********Years ago, I earned a Blue Belt in Taekwondo. I didn't keep up practice in the martial arts, and now I'm way out of shape. Same thing happened with my piano playing. I took lessons as a kid and played piano into my early 20's, but when my husband died, so did the music in me. Recently, my nephew, Alexias, gave a solo piano recital. He was awesome! Since then, I've started pickin' at the piano again. I guess it's like riding a bicycle...you never really forget. Only thing is, my fingers aren't as nimble as they used to be.

I'd like to meet:

Richard Simmons, so he can give me his motivational talk, make me cry and get me moving...something like this:

Music:

I like jazz -- Acoustic Alchemy, Vince Guaraldi, Ottmar Liebert, Spyro Gyra; Salsa -- Tito Puente, Texas State's Salsa Del Rio.Love classical piano -- Chopin's Polonaise "Heroic" is a current favorite. On occasion, I listen to Gloria Estefan...even saw her in concert once!I also like '70s music...James Taylor, Carole King, the Carpenters, the Doobie Brothers, Chicago, and Earth, Wind and Fire. With the exception of Carole King, I've seen all these folks in concert, too!

Movies:

I love all the Harry Potter flicks! I've already seen the latest one twice...LOVED it.

Television:

I like to watch t.v., especially late night. I enjoy the TCM channel -- classic movies. I especially like "King of Queens", "Ghost Whisperer", "Dog Whisperer", "Reba", and anything on Nick at Nite or TV Land. The old "I Love Lucy" shows still make me laugh...my favorite is the "Vita-meata-vegamin" episode.

Books:

I'm hooked on...Picked up the latest Harry Potter book at its midnight release, and finished it that weekend! It's a very good read...the best one in the series!

Heroes:

My hero was always my father. He made me feel safe and secure, even into adulthood. Another hero is my son, my Pitzi...my little Panda Bear, whose father tragically died before he was born.Despite this unfathomable loss in his life, my boy has grown into an amazing, well-adjusted, intelligent, hard-working and loving man. He put himself through college, married a wonderful woman, and now my Panda Bear has a Panda Cub of his own. She was born May 27, 2008. My son has always been my world, my reason for being...and now my granddaughter is the light of my life!My son and his little family seem well on their way to an excellent life. I'm so proud of my little Panda Bear!*********************************** Sneezing Panda
