The Best Loved Calendar in Navajo History

About Me

So far the “Women of the Navajo” calendar has been published annually. It was first published in 1991 in a beautiful black and white format. The first cover model was Tina James. The calendar had a tiny budget with only four models: Tina James, Lucille Kelly, Carole Jackson and Dora Roanhorse. The calendar was simple, but the pictures were professional and stunning. Will Jones of Tempe, Arizona photographed the first edition. Little did we know that there would be a 17th edition for 2009.The calendar wasn't published in 1998 or 2001. In 2000, we announced that we had published our last edition. So, there wasn't a 2001 calendar. It's fair to say, the demand from WOTN fans was so overwhelming that we decided to publish the 2002 calendar, and we've been back ever since. This calendar is privately owned and is unveiled during the Navajo Nation Fair in September. It is welcomed by excited Navajo fans finding out whether anyone from their community is featured. We appreciate treating the our models women like mini-celebrities. They enjoy being recognized wherever they go. You can find them almost anywhere, like walking through the mall or at one of the flea markets in Gallup, Shiprock, Albuquerque or Window Rock, wherever. We hope you will add this 17th edition to your collection. Again, this is "The Best Loved Calendar In Navajo History"This sleek logo was designed by Karl C. Jim in 2004. It reflects the diversity and beauty of Navajo women today. The circle's opening is through which knowledge is gained from above. The face represents the innocence and curiosity of today's youth. The jewelry represents modesty and pride, while the different hair lengths and styles express their individuality.
