why are there so many songs about rainbows?

About Me

I'm 24 years young, full of life and love. Perhaps the best way to describe my philosophy of life comes from my favorite play in the world, Rent: no day but today! I'm a compassionate and loving male who tries to live every day and every relationship to its fullest. I'm searching for emotional and spiritual fulfillment, but I am not afraid of the physical. I hope someday to find my true life partner. I believe that everyone has a soul mate somewhere in the world, and that fate will lead us together. Nothing is impossible if you believe in your dreams.

My Interests

I don't want to sound cliche, but long walks on the beach and sunsets really turn me on. Also, I try to Salsa dance or tango about 4 times a week (i teach an advanced dance class for the physically and mentally challenged at a local studio ). Not only does it allow me to break through the false constructs of physical separability and "personal space" , but it also is a great workout for my thighs. I've played the flute for 10 years now and am looking for another music lover to accompany me, maybe on piano or clarinet . I'm really getting into contemporary new age, esp. Yanni. I like to write poetry. Maybe I'll even post some on my blog :-). Also I was doing yoga pretty heavily for a while, but now I've switched over to Tai Chi. But if I were to pick one thing about me that most perfectly reflected my spirit, it would have to be my collection of trolls . I like to think that each one is fearlessly unique despite all being cast from the same mold :-). They are not afraid to express their individuality ( what other symbol of childhood can run around wearing nothing but spiky pink hair and a smile) and they are notconfined by the physical constraints of gender . That's me in a nutshell.

I'd like to meet:

I'm looking to meet someone who is not interested in looks. That is, its all about what's on the inside that counts. Show me your personality. I believe that we should not let our relationships be bound by the confines of social norms. Be it typical gender relations, societal roles, or, being that I'm from the south, family constraints. No, we need to liberate our souls to find love in all whom we meet. As Heath Ledger said in my new favorite movie, "It's more than what we think, its what we are." Sp I welcome all to my website. I'd like to meet all of you and share my love. *Hugs* Dave

Music:

Huge fan of the Indigo Girls. ( go Amy and Emily, you can multiply my life by the power of two). I can't get over that beautiful rock princess Ani Defanco--in her words, I am 32 flavors....and then some. Sometimes when I'm feeling the angst of my life, I turn to Alanis-- she knows how I feel. (I just wish I could understand more what she feels as an oppressed woman). Elton John, George Michael, Boy George: classics pure and simple. Finally, I'd like to give a shout out to Annie Lennox, New Kids on the Block, and Liberacci ( yeah, I'm eclectic). Favorite song: Sheryl Crow: if it makes you happy (it can't be that bad).

Movies:

Brokeback Mountain-- just saw it and all I have to say is, way to go guys. That takes real courage. Love the Story of Us, Cruel Intentions, anything with Leo in it ( although Heath is climbing the proverbial charts). Big fan Blue Crush, Kids, and The Tigger Movie. I know, I'm eclectic, I like things/experiences beyond the iron veil of the social norm. Oh and Center Stage, those guys can dance. I love Troy, Snatch and Fight club-- I know, I know, how can you endorse someone who broke Jenni's heart like that. But guys, really, he's more than a beautiful actor, he's a beautiful person. Sometimes I wonder what would happen if we met in an alternate life?

Television:

The OC. Laguna Beach. Next ( especially when they have all guys). Big fan of Queer eye, american idol, survivor, and mid-afternoon re- runs of who wants to be a millionaire. And you can't forget Smallville-- is there anyone else around who thinks Clark Ken is the hottie f the century. Have been known to skp class and work for Sex in the City and the occasional Days of Our Lives . All in all, if its about love and on the TV, I'm glued to it.

Books:

Don't read a lot of books. More of a magazine guy. People, GQ, Cosmo, redbook (have you seen their december edition!!!). I've gotta admit, I'm a bit of a klepto when it comes to wedding magazines. And whenever i'm depressed, i just sink into the the fall edition of abercrombie. I'm also a big time collector of the sky mall mags (i know, i know, but my first time, i ordered the personalized bath robe with matching slippers and the portable stress ball, and i never looked back ). All in all, i'll read anything that's not to wordy or preachy. But my all time favorite book is the story of your life , told over tea and cucumber sandwiches, with the crusts peeled off.

Heroes:

My mom. She's the best. *hi mama*. I also adore my roomates Matt and Nick. I love you guys, more than you'll ever know. But I wish we could be more "together. " I have fond affection for that love bundle rescue monkey, Flipper. that is, sometimes I feel we are all lost at sea and in need of our own finned lovable creature to guide us back to shore . I'm also a fan of George Michael for standing up in what he believes, Martin Luther King, actress extrodinaire Bette Midler, the one and only R B Ginsburg (i know what its like to be alone against the establishment, so carry the torch strong for the empowerment of all women), and Kermit the Frog who I'm sure secretly knows why there are so many songs about rainbows.
