Hip Hop is your money in their pocket.

About Me

flavordisk on hip hop:
Hip hop is the pinnacle of the melting pot that is America. Although this is cliche and obvious, it is dead in America. Hip hop is an idea, a piece of knowledge. While the vein of knowledge still exists, the surface has eroded due to the rains of blood and money. Hip hop is not materialistic despite what MTV, record labels, Ecko, BAP, Master P Hip Hop flavored potato chips or whatever these hate mongers want you to believe. Hip hop has become synonymous with anti-integrity. They seek to divide. They trick you into thinking you are something. Hip hop is not materialistic despite what even I may want you to believe when I ask for your support. You must find the message in hip hop because it is embedded like a code. Don't look to just the emcees, don't look to just the djs and producers, don't look to just the graff writers, and don't look to just the bboys. The message is intertwined between the quadruple helix that make up the 4 elements of hip hop. Each elements is just a piece of the puzzle we must put together to see the whole picture.
flavordisk on technology and progress:
We invent technology to create free time for ourselves. People then take these innovations and exploit them. We are in an endless pursuit of efficiency; designing new processes and tools so we may rest and take care of our children and prove our genes are the best. These new tools and processes are quickly taken advantage of and the time gained is quickly lost. Perhaps these guys will explain it better with the stats on their page. Support them and their purpose.
flavordisk on money:
Unfortunately, money is nothing but welcomed shackles. It is the quantification of life, that which should not be quantified. Money can be burned.
flavordisk on humanity:
We live in an analog world with analog feelings. We are not robots. It is not 0 or 1, one or the other, with them or against them. A true to life sound wave does not have a bit rate and is infinitely complex in detail. Every day we go to job we don't want to go to we are participating as a gear in a machine. Our thoughts are forgotten for the sake of someone else's as we perform our function in the workplace. We become digital, either you are working or you are not. We don't need to wait for the T800 to hunt Sarah Connor to know our lives today are man vs machine.
flavordisk on beats:
I've been making beats for almost a decade. I've used MPC's, EPS's, ASR's and recently moved to merely a PC. For a long time I stuck to sample based hip hop music, however my purist standards have recently been compromised for the sake of innovation. I don't sell beats because it kills integrity. Think about it. I do want royalties though!
projects from flavordisk:
I have a little bit of stuff out there. I am not very accomplished for how long I've been doing this because there's so much shit on this plate of life I'm eating; I just have to manage portions carefully. The latest project is Leonard Wellington III featuring Jon the Baptist of Portland, and several unannounced DJ's. Stay tuned, it will be here sooner than you think!
