Performing professionally since 2001, LIA is a singer, songwriter, raper, based in L.A. with a sound in the style of Fergie with a latin flare similar to Shakira. She has been described before as a female Pitbull or Daddy Yankee.
LIA’s had a passion for music since very young, she would always sing and dance along to her favorite salsa group (Juan Luis Guerra y 4:40) and actually got to perform with them when she was about eight, along with a group of children, when the band came to her home country of Panama. Her father is the conductor of the National Symphonic Orchestra, and the choir Musica Viva, so she would often participate in some of his concerts as well.
She has always been surrounded by musicians, but it wasn’t until she moved to hawaii, and fell in love with hip hop and roots reggae, that she decided to become a performing artist, and diggin up her Rio Abajo roots, she mixed all her reggae, salsa, classic, influences into one, to come up with that unique style that puts her in a category of her own.
LIA has performed in clubs all over Hawaii such as Casanovas, Longhi’s, Hapas and many more.she’s been featured in many reggae festivals and collaborated with well known hawaiian artists such as Marty Dread. She has also performed in L.A. at different clubs, such as, The Rumba Room in Universal City walk, and Camachos in the City of Industry.
She recently finished the Recording Artist Program at Musicians Institute in Hollywood, and has started to produce her own tracks. A few will be featured in her debut album, which is scheduled to drop in the first quarter of 2008, under the indie label Triple Diamond Records.
