Brother Russ

Difficult is the path that leads to righteousness and few there are who find it

About Me

I'm just your average happily married man/father/husband/pastor trying to live an authentic Christian life...Bunyan (the author of the second best selling book in human history...the Christian allegory entitled Pilgrims Progress) once wrote that Christianity can be worn as either armor to protect from the world or as a disguise to fool the world. I continue to strive daily to wear it as armor.

I edited my profile with Thomas Myspace Editor V3.6 !

My Interests

The Bible (there is a reason why its the number one best selling book in human history, as well as each year), my wife and kids, travel (preferably by automobile...love to drive), flyfishing.

I'd like to meet:

Met Jesus over twenty years ago...but some guys I'd still like to meet one day would include Ezekiel (the prophet), George Washington, Alexander Hamilton (you know the guy on a ten dollar bill), Theodore Roosevelt, Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, Dwight Moody, Charles Spurgeon...hopefully I'll have eternity to get to know them.

Music:

Bluegrass gospel (Doyle Lawson) , Old Hymns (Marvelous Grace, Arise My Soul, A Mighty Fortress, Brethren We Have Met) , Praise Music (Did you feel the mountains tremble), Folk/Americana (Cash/Dylan/etc).

Movies:

Its a Wonderful Life, Napolean Dynamite (Pedro offers you his protection, Tina you fat lard, Napolean your just jealous because I've been .. chatting with babes all day, I bet you I can throw a football over that mountain), A Christmas Story (my first shot from my Daisy richoted off a clothesline post and hit me square between my eyes....yes, I almost shot my eye out), Rio Bravo, The Searchers, Bruce Lee's Game of Death (the fight scene with Kareem Abdul Jabar is a scream), The Lord of the Rings 1,2,3 (good job with a truly great Christian allegory), The Passion of the Christ (for its honesty in depicting the pivitol moment in human history).

Television:

Andy Griffith (until Barney leaves), Gilligan's Island (black/white), Squawk Box, Scooby Doo (before the arrival of Scrappy), and a couple of other almost forgotten favorites to tax your memory banks--- Run Joe Run and The Great Outdoor World of Virgil Ward (thanks to my friend Dean I haven't been able to purge that catchy theme song from my brain even after 25 years...from the lakes of northern canada, to the gulf of mexico, where ever fish are bitin' that's where we're gonna go...(sadly I can still finish the song).Mystery Science Theatre 3000 - Crow, Tom Servo, Gypsy, Joel (or Mike) have the ability to take bad movies to new heights.SurvivorMan/ManVsWild - I love these shows...and yes (like Les Stroud and Bear Gryll I can start a fire without a "store bought" flame (i.e without matches or a lighter).

Books:

The Bible, His Excellency and Founding Brothers by Joseph Ellis, Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chernow, HW Brands works on Theodore Roosevelt and Andrew Jackson...lots of others

Heroes:

Jesus of Nazareth, Paul (the apostle), my grandfather

"My Space"

Like so many things in life, "My Space" is what a person makes of it.  It (in and of itself) is morally neutral, a lifeless tool that can either be used for good or evil.  And by and large, ...
