The truth is a line that you'll never use...

About Me

About me? Hmm.
Chances are, i'm one of the most honest and genuine people you're ever likely to meet. I don't play games and i don't sugarcoat my words. You might not always like what i have to say, but you can rest assured that it will always be exactly what i think and what i feel - no more, and no less.
I'm an eternal optimist, which isn't always easy - for me, or for those around me. Too many people spend too much time caught up in the negative aspects of life that they completely miss out on everything good happening around them. I've walked down that path, more than once, and i spend every day trying to keep my head up and my mind clear. I believe that we're here for such a limited amount of time that we should all strive to make the best of it, and to be as happy as possible.
If you're planning on reading anything beyond this page, it's only fair to warn you that i have a horribly, horribly filthy mouth. I'm fully aware that some people find it offensive - but i don't. The notion of "good words" and "bad words" just seems ridiculous to me. Words are words - they have as much or as little power as we decide to give them. Like most things in life, it's all about perception.
I manage a videogame store, which is the perfect job for someone who's been gaming for more than 20 years. While i enjoy the time i spend in front of my various consoles, i also keep close tabs on the industry as a whole. Unbeknownst to most people, gaming is the fastest-growing form of entertainment, and the continuing growth and evolution of the industry has elevated it from children's entertainment into an intelligent, culturally-relevant mainstream medium.
I'm also a HUGE movie buff. While it's obvious from the previous paragraph that far more than just a videogame enthusiast, my interest in games pales in comparison to my love of the cinema. Midnight openings? Check. Indie and arthouse stuff? Definitely. Multiple viewings of the same film? Frequently. I try to go out to the theatre at least once a week, and i usually catch two or three flicks per week in my living room, sacked out on the couch with my Blockbuster Video blanket. Yes, you read that correctly.
Friends and family are incredibly precious to me. I never go more than a week without spending time with my father, and i talk to my closest friends nearly every day. I'm fiercely protective of the people i care about, and my loyalty to them knows no bounds. There is never a time and a place where i won't be willing to bend over backward and go out of my way to be there for someone who needs me.
There's probably more that i could say, but at this point you should have a basic idea of what you're getting yourself into. Feel free to ask questions if you desire any further information. In the meantime, take your coat off. Stay awhile. Maybe we'll be pals.

My Blog

I’m jello, baby.

It's Saturday morning, and I'm sitting here on the couch in a pair of shorts, a black button-down shirt with the sleeves rolled up, and a tie.  The dog is lying in the corner, giving me the sad e...

Intoxication and sleep deprivation.

After a lengthy discussion with my gracious little Vietnamese host, I had every intention of sitting down here and formulating one of those deep, meaningful blog entries, but decided against it. ...

Swords, Guns, Demons, and Jumpscars.

Did anything important happen this week?  If it did, it obviously didn't make much of an impact, because I sure as hell don't remember my excitement levels rising above their normal state, except...

What happened to the ice and the power failures? We were lied to.

I must admit - I'm disappointed with the results of the "winter storm" that was supposed to "pound central Indiana" last night.  Sure, we got a few inches of snow (enough for Sleeve to draw a gia...

It’s 10:00. Do you know where your kids are? Cut up in my basement.

Here I sit in front of the not-so trusty laptop, which has been running consistently for more than a week because every time I actually turn it off, I have to face the risk of the goddamned thing refu...

Phase One complete. Being Phase Two.

I've been dieting for two weeks now, and although the drop during the second week wasn't nearly as big or impressive as the first, I'm still pleased with being thirteen pounds lighter than when I star...

"I saw it! It’s alive! It’s HUGE!"
