From the MIND....To MACHINE...

About Me

Surrealism meets mechanicalism. A merging of old and new, industrial and civilized. It is a world where metal, glass, construction bolts and pistons are all simply artistic tools.
Where working gears bring movement to masterpieces. Where machines are muses. This is the world of Dale Mathis.
And at the center of it all, the artists own gears are ever spinning on his next project....
Dale Mathis
A largely self-taught artist, Dale Mathis infringes on the viewer’s perception of reality, with a keen eye for detail that causes even the minute to become a major focus on every piece created. Lauded as a major talent by peers and associates, his creations speak from the heart of the dissident life of the inner city.
Born Dale Charles Mathis on January 22, 1972, Mathis hails from Inglewood, California, where his apt attention to detail was imbedded early in his youth through an avid interest in miniatures. Shortly after his 19th birthday, he moved to Las Vegas, where he worked as a bouncer, a construction worker…whatever it took to support his real passion: art.
Both controversial and unapologetic, Mathis introduces his art with endearing confidence. He looks forward to the realization of his own legacy in reinventing the classic wheel and its role in the world of art.
“In order to acquire a growing and lasting respect in society, it is a good thing, if you possess great talent, to give, early in your youth, a very hard kick to the right shin of the society that you love. After that, be a snob.” Salvador Dali
