Exciting times for Nelly. I recently quit my job at NBC, moved from Fort Lee, NJ to Brooklyn, NY, and am a involved in launching a start-up company. All have been a challenge to adapt to. Quitting NBC was the easiest. Not that it wasn’t a good job, it’s just that I am no stranger to leaving good jobs and I have been longing to become an entrepreneur my whole life. Moving was bad. Like Michael Jackson bad. Bad. Bad. Really, really bad. I officially hate moving more than cats, Ben Affleck, and the Yankees. The space shadily located in the Bushwick area of Brooklyn was being renovated and was not ready on the agreed upon move-in date so I had to move in gradually, maneuver around construction and sheetrock dust, and sleep on a prison cot on the floor for three weeks. The place is better now but still not 100% complete. I moved into the same space as our offices so I live and work at the same place. Yikes. Don’t try this at home. It’s like working all the time. It was a necessary sacrifice to help start the business. Which comes to the worst part. Starting a company is hard. Really hard. Since moving in I’ve worked 100 hours a week on average and it doesn’t look like there is any end in site. I am starting to train myself to only need 6 hours of sleep a night. It is starting to work but I used to be very good at sleeping. It’s like trying to quit smoking. It’s probably nothing like that but I felt I needed a comparison. So the decisions I’ve made have proven to be the stupidest, dumbest, most difficult choices of my life. But I am very happy and wouldn’t have changed a thing… except maybe the moving part. It sucked. I am excited for our broadband network launch in early December. Please visit BLACK20.COM and let me know what you think. And if you like it, come back daily and tell your friends about it.
