Blind Seyet

We started collaborating musically in 2003. At the time, I was sending out weekly poems with Christian themes over email to a large group of friends, and Devin decided to put music to one of them. That was the first song, Palma, and it didn't take long for us to accumulate more than fifteen songs. In most cases, we both collaborated on the lyrics and Devin wrote the music. Somewhere along the way, two of our friends, Kenny Buchanan and Barry Klontz, got involved. We had a "Band". After too many months of argument, we settled on the rather bizarre and quirky name Switchmaster and the Freedom Kids. We wrote too many songs, and didn't practice enough. We never bonded musically, and we were never banded together as musicians. Switchmaster and the Freedom Kids died out slowly, but the songs never stopped coming. Devin and I continued to meet and create sometimes the most random of material whenever we had spare time, a guitar, and somewhere to write. A long time went by, and many things changed. As Devin's faith in Christ stood strong, I left the beliefs I've had for 19 years. They're just a memory, like the old band. But our passions have not changed. And as of this year, we've decided to come together under one name again: Blind Seyet. Devin's blogs explain what our name means a lot better than I can. But what you need to know is that we love music and hate prejudice and the judgement of others. We both want to change the world, and as two college students in Phoenix, Arizona, we're doing what we can.
