Progressive Music in a Regressive World

About Me

Formed in 1982 by Bordet and Newe, the Deserters are primarily a studio band, congregating every so often to jam and record new music. Rather inactive in recent years, Mick has taken it upon himself to make the band's music available to a wider audience.More recently, Mick has become involved with The Lunacy Board - a rock/folk progressive avant-garde skiffle band.

EBow Heaven

I missed the weekly track last week, so I'm going to try and squeeze two in this week. Here's the first - an EBow solo extracted from a longer piece.I really like the feel of this; really laid-back a...

White Silk

This week's track is an acoustic ballad - featuring just guitar and Jennifer Leigh on vocals. This one's a bit of a flawed gem. Some parts are so sugary-sweet they'd make you retch, but others are c...

Nee Naw

The 'Fire Engine Disco Remix (pt 2)' was featured on our first album way back in 1985. It's a minimalist piece featuring a range of instruments, including the legendary Yobstick (see a previous post)...

Yet Another...

The latest track on my profile page (and the Deserters website) is the 2nd part of the 'Yet Another Granfalloon' piece. It is almost entirely percussion-based, with some vocal samples to add some fla...
