About Me

I really like things I'm really into and I hate writing about me. In just a couple of concise lines, anyway. You'll have to wait 'til my book's finished to discover more...

My Interests

Music, principally. Runs my life. Well, great music anyway. Football, Rugby league, good movies, watchable telly, knowledge retention, the absurd, people with a good soul.

I'd like to meet:

Big Jack, Roger Waters, John Motson, Stephen Fry, David Bowie (actually... see "heroes" list- the ones that aren't dead, anyway)

Music:

The good shit that's filtered out when you go from Abba through to ZZ Top (but not those two very much). Not gonna do a long list of favourites as it'll go on forever and will need changing every other week. Just great, classic, thrilling music from whatever era, whatever genre. Forever trying to quench an insatiable thirst for fantastic music. Already own a helluva lot but there's still tons I haven't tried properly yet. That keeps me going...

Movies:

Too many to reel off. Directors whose films i love include; Ken Loach, Stanley Kubrick, Martin Scorsese, Akira Kurosawa, Francis Ford Coppola, Mike Leigh, David lynch, Alfred Hitchcock, Nic Roeg, Alejandro Jodorowsky, Sam Peckinpah, David Lean, Roman Polanski, Paul Thomas Anderson, Pedro Almovador,(non-schmaltzy) Stephen Speilberg, Jean-Luc Godard, Sidney Lumet, Lindsay Anderson, Mel Brooks, Quentin Tarantino...etc..

Television:

Televised football and rugby league, Auf Wiedersehen Pet, Young Ones, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Seinfeld (a recent convert.. the shame!), Black Adder, Ren & Stimpy, Simpsons, Reeves & Mortimer, Peep Show, Fall & Rise of Reginald Perrin, D. Attenborough stuff, Q.I, University Challenge, (the much-missed)15-to-1, Chris Morris stuff, Bo Selecta (series 3 excepted), Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads, Life On Mars, Only Fools & Horses, Historical Documentary, Especially BBC4 music ones ....

Books:

No novels, really. Reference books or books about things/people I like.

Heroes:

Les Dawson, Stevie Wonder, John Bonham, Stanley Kubrick, Gordon Strachan, Herbie Hancock, Don Revie, Michael Palin, Mark E. Smith, John Motson, Billy Connelly, Chick Corea, Wee Jinky, Robert Wyatt, Ken Loach, Stephen Fry, Ronnie Barker, Brian Eno, Eddie & Frank Gray, Donald Fagen, Todd Rundgren, Dave Lombardo, Tony Yeboah, Bruce Springsteen, Martin Scorsese, Roger Waters, Merlyn Rees, Ian Dury, Tony Smith, Johan Cruyff, Arthur Guinness, Andy 'The Viking' Fordham, David Attenborough, Jack Charlton, Oliver Postgate, Bowie.....
