About Me

From my upcoming group show "Pervasive Art North" this painting is title "I Came To Believe". All my pieces explore the lyrics and songs played by Johnny Cash.
Next Month I will be part of "The Rising" at The Wind Up Gallery in Phoenix. This piece titled Fecal burger will be one of three pieces of mine in the show.
I live and work from Toronto where my studio is located on the second floor. I enjoy my Miss Jane for the past 14 years, Mr. Séamus O'Connor my English Bull Terrier, sipping Guinness, making tofu brownies and pizza. I love, love, love my wife Miss Jane. I'm an artist that lives and works in Toronto. I miss my sweet Clancy dog immensely. I have a new bull terrier his name is Mr. Seamus O'Connor. I nearly became a chef. I love my friends, I paint and paint and paint. I honor my word. I was born in the country not the city. I eat organic. My paternal grandfather was a friend to Hemingway, my maternal grandfather was exiled by his father to Canada from Northern Ireland for loving a Catholic maid named Maggie McCormick whom became my great granny. I paint and paint and paint. My favourite comfort food has to be pizza and homemade pancetta and buffalo mozzarella pizza is pukka. I paint and paint and paint. I'm mad for bull terriers. Favourite singer Johnny Cash, favourite songwriter Johnny Cash & Neil Young, favourite band is Radiohead. I love that I live in a place that gives me four seasons. I love trees. My favourite trees ..1 the birch, ..2 the beech and ..3 the white pine. I was born in December to Irish parents. I lived in a beach house. I wandered into Great Lake Erie at 3 1/2 on my own surely to drown if it was not for my dog Tiger who saved my life by pulling me up onto the beach safely by my arm. I remember loving Lucky Charms and Boo Berry cereal. Watched the Hillarious House of Frightenstein and the Banana Splits before going to school. My maternal grandmother baked me a chocolate everytime I came to visit her and may you be in heaven a half an hour before the devil knows you're dead.

My Interests

My boy Mr. Séamus (pr. shay-mus not sea-mus) snug as a bug on his chair in the corner of my studio.

I'd like to meet:

I would love to meet artists, galleries, rockabilly lovers, bull terrier lovers and Betties.

Music:

I love music, good music, tunes that can be classed as a solid. I am spellbound by things from a bye gone era when things were simpler, or at least that's how I see it. I love songwriters with names like Cash, Drake, Lightfoot, Dylan, Nelson, Tyson, Young, Presley, James, Fitzgerald, Johnson and Williams. My iTunes is always a go in my studio, how else could an artsit survive in his or her solace of an existence. Any of these albums are a blessing to time spent.

Movies:

I watch a lot, seriously, like over 5,000 a lot all on my new buddy Mr.Bravia. My favourite film of all time is Tim Burton's "The Nightmare Before Christmas" and I just wish he'd launch "The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy & Other Stories" onto the big screen in all that stop motion gothic beauty. Next to Tim Burton other directors that I really admire are Woody Allen, Terry Gilliam, Ed Burns, Paul McGuigan, Sophia Coppola, Wes Anderson, Atom Egoyan, David Cronenberg, Christopher Nolan and Paul Greengrass.Actors that will get me to buy a ticket are Anthony Hopkins, Clive Owen, Sean Penn, Helen Mirren, Charlotte Rampling, Angelica Huston, Samantha Morton, Jodie Foster, Meryl Streep, Michael Gambon and Michael Caine.

Television:

When I was a kid and I'd summer in the country at my grams, I would love catching Tarzan, Flash Gordon, The Lone Ranger, Abbot and Costello and The Planet of the Apes that came in from Cleveland on her tv antenna. I ate my Lucky Charms and watched the Hilarious House of Freightenstein with Vincent Price and Billy Van each morning before school. As for now I don't seem to watch much outside of The Family Guy but I LOVE the original Office and The Extras with Ricky Gervais, did I mention that I LOVE IT. Late Night with Dave, SNL and I enjoy throwing in Larry David, Little Britain, Ren & Stimpy, South Park and Arrested Development into my dvd player.
