About Me

I moved to Lakeland from Orlando in 2004 to work in Brandon/Tampa. I work on computers that handle telephone softswitching to pay for my equipment to pursue my passion of photography. Not that I plan to make a career change, but I would like to go semi-pro.

I'm a native Florida cracker. I also have done theater locally and dance ballroom: swing, samba, waltz, tango, foxtrot.

One of my favorite websites... the Chain Letter information site. God knows there are enough chain letters on myspace.

My Blogs:
My blogs are written for both photographers and my myspace friends. So when I start mentioning really technical photography stuff, I'll change the text from bold to navy so that people who aren't interested in focal lengths, curve layers, 81a warming filters, and portable reflectors can just skip of that stuff.

My Interests

Photography: my online portfolio is here on FlickR

I also have a Model Mayhem profile if you are interested. Mayhem #210925

Also acting, dancing.... I love to tango, poker, basketball, paintball, watching football. I try to hide my geek interests: video games, going to silly sci-fi/gaming conventions, and reading fantasy novels.

I'd like to meet:

Dead or alive... Elvis. The best thing about the movie "Adaptation" was when they talked about how people answer who'd they like to meet, dead or alive. Cage's character says that people like to lie and say "Jesus" or "Einstien" b/c it's the perfect answer. Even if that is who'd you'd most like to meet (my super prudish, kindergarten teaching mom... I mean you :-P ). It defeats the purpose of the game, doesn't ;-) .. Alive? Hmmm.... it would be my heroes listed later.

Music:

It's cliche to say, "I listen to everything" now days. But I really listen to everything. Right now in my car I have "Los Lobos, Pistola y Corazon" in my cd player (I used to work in Mexico), next to my Elvis Christmas Album (it's Nov. as I write this), Charlie Daniels band, Trick Daddy, and currently seeking the latest Emenem cd. My favorite radio stations in the area are 80's / 90's rock, unless I can find some AC/DC on the heavier stations. And I love alternative music, but sadly most of the decent songs get played out.

Movies:

I'm a movie buff. Since I work for a cable company, I watch a LOT of movies. I watch about 2 a night on my shift. My favorite movies I own on DVD are: Aliens, Army of Darkness, A Few Good Men, Brotherhood of the Wolf, Iron Monkey, The Patriot, Pulp Fiction, Sleepy Hollow, Snatch, Super Troopers, Tombstone, Kill Bill, Lord of the Rings, and We Were Soldiers.

Of course there are some classics I own too: Cool Hand Luke, Grease, Hoosiers, Jaws, Monty Python and the Quest for the Holy Grail, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Rain Man, The Shawshank Redemtion, The Usual Suspects, and White Men Can't Jump.

Television:

09/27/06 Update: I recently got sucked into Naruto. I love it, and watch my dvr of it every Sunday. Ninja's rock!

The shows I really try to follow is C.S.I., Entourage, Deadwood, Sapranos, and Weeds. I also watch the main event of the World Series of Poker, NBA, Bucs games, and Animal Planet. The rest of my T.V. time is spent on movies.

Heroes:

As much as I utterly despise canned answers (see: Who'd I'd Like to Meet), the hero that tops my list is my dear old dad. He taught me most of my ethics, how to negotiate, and sets a high standard. But, that's boring and esmaculating. So, my other heroes are Magic Johnson (big b-ball fan), Dustin Hoffman (favorite actor), and... that's really it. Not big on heroes.

Well Behaved Women Rarely Make History

I’m assuming most of you have seen this bumper sticker/T shirt: "Well behaved women rarely make history". It’s the new flavor of "I’m a bitch" saying. You know, the "49% sweetheart...

NCAA Basketball Finals, Womens!

Did you know that they call the Women’s NCAA Basketball Finals the "Lesbian Superbowl"?  Evidently the lesbian community in Ybor is gearing up for parties and lots of booze sells.  But that&rsqu...

June shoots

Each month get's more exciting for me. I got a third head for my light set up-- for non-photogs, a head is a big strobe flash. The more you have, the more lighting options you have. Lighting is the...

April and May photoshoots

Wow, I'm two months behind: and last month I only ended up doing one shoot. But I did change jobs and go through a not brief enough heart ache. There's been some changes too. I had three test model...

March's photoshoot

First, I found out that about one in every 20 monitors or so are not calibrated right. It has killed some of my images when viewed on them, b/c I have tones in the lower ends of the lightness range. ...
