Chemical Horizon

About Me

Chemical Horizon was started in 2004 by founders Jordan Boesch (drums) and Mitch Fraser (guitar). After playing together in numerous bands over the years, the two decided it was time to take things to the next level. In 2004 they began writing their first batch of original material, with the intent on starting a full band. At this point, they decided to use the name Chemical Horizon. The name came to Mitch in a dream that inspired him to take his writing in a new direction. Mitch’s new creativity began to form the foundation for the songs that they recorded in late 2004. It was at this point that they found Jerry Shen. Jerry was invited to recording sessions over the holidays in late December, where Jordan and Mitch began tracking the drums, bass, and guitar for what would be their first demo. During the recording sessions, it was Jerry’s job to learn the bass lines for the songs being recorded. At this point Jerry’s determination and drive became obvious, and he would then become the official bass player for Chemical Horizon. After a few months with no luck finding a singer, Mitch’s older brother Chris Fraser was asked to sing on the demo that was for the most part, already finished. With Chris writing lyrics, and vocal melodies for the demo, the band performed their first concert at Campbell Collegiate on April 28th, 2005. The concert was organized by the band and other students to raise money for charity. During the summer of 2005, Chris finished the vocal tracks for the demo, and the band released their first demo on September 2nd with a small release party played out of Jordan’s garage. Later that year, they began finding spots on bills opening for other bands, and continued working on new material. In February 2006, Chemical Horizon was asked to play one of four Telemiracle concerts set up that year in Regina. Because of this concert and the help of a local rock band, Stillseed, the band began to make a name for itself in the city, and played more concerts over the following seven weeks then they had in the previous ten months. It was in June 2006 that the band began recording their first full-length album. With more new material, and much more experience, they released A Place To Hide on August 18th, 2006. However, the release party for A Place To Hide was also Jordan’s last performance as the bands drummer. Within the week of Jordan’s departure from the band, an ad posted by Chris on Saskmetal.com was answered by Todd Bryanton. After a few short weeks, Todd began attending rehearsals and learned the bands material. After a month of practicing, it became evident that Todd would be the new drummer. With Todd as the bands new drummer, the band played their first concert since Jordan’s departure on November 10th, 2006 - the energy on stage that night between the four members was undeniable. With this new-found energy and motivation, the band is set to begin writing what they hope to be their best material to date.
