I love all things artistic.I do currently: - Collage/Assemblage - Photography (digital, film, darkroom) - Bookmaking, Bookbinding - Drawing (pencil, pen & ink) - Graphic Art, Web Design - Poetry, HaikuAND I'm sorta obsessed with all things MACINTOSH. Like my wonderful, amazing 17" macbook pro CORE TWO BAYBEE! Mmmm...brushed aluminum...sexay!I also sing. I hope to start taking vocal lessons again soon and I would be interested in getting into a possible recording situation in the future, just for fun.I want to learn or try: - Quilting, Art Quilts - Glass Blowing - Ceramics & Pottery (did when I was younger) - Blacksmithing - Jewelry Making - Flamenco Dancing!I'm also really into alternative medicine. I'm a massage therapist and I love yoga, although I need to do more of it!I'm into body art and mods, philosophy and debating, reading, thinking lots, and nature/animals, especially birds.My favorite flower is the tulip...I'm sorta obsessed with tulips but I also love gladiolus. I love plants in general, especially cacti/succulents, jade tress, and bonsai trees. My favorite bird is the cardinal. I collect rocks, quilts, crystals, seashells, antique medicine bottles, buddha statues, and rosaries. I'm obsessed with magazines (lol!) and I love graphic design...
I'd like to meet:
I really have no desire to meet "famous" people. They're just people. There are non-famous people just as interesting if not more so.I would really love to make new friends. I wanna meet people who are free thinking, creative, fun, into doing things, deep thinkers, musicians, artists, rebels, poets, goofballs, oddballs, and characters. I need people around me who can keep up with me in a conversation and don't need me to "dumb down".I do NOT want to meet people who are MEAN or generally nasty or make fun of others. I have met a few like this recently and I don't like it. I don't want to encounter people who are closed-minded sheep in a flock or whose only hobby is getting drunk, high, shopping, watching tv etc. I'm not at all interested in those people who have no opinion or who can only see their own opinions. What's the opposite of a devil's advocate? That person. I'm also really sick of hearing about the bible, Christ, etc. I've had that debate a million times already and it's boring. I don't watch a lot of tv, but there are some shows I like. I dig anything "educational". My current faves are:- Dirty Jobs - Mythbusters (but of course!) - America's Next Top Model (guilty pleasure!) - Man vs Wild b/c that guy is HAWT!!I used to really dig Criss Angel Mindfreak but sorta lost interest.
Books:
I am a book nerd. I love to read. I don't read a lot of fiction although I have read all the LotR books including the Silmarillion and the Hobbit, the Clan of the Cave Bear series by Jean M. Aul and a lot of Steven King (natch). My fave Steven King book is Needful Things.My fave books are: - Siddhartha by Herman Hesse. I have read this book prob 40 times no exaggeration. - The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran - Loose Woman by Sandra Cisneros (poetry) - Stranger Music by Leonard Cohen. Another one I have read 40 times or more. More poetry. This book changed my life. - Pretty much everything Charles Bukowski ever wrote, but my favorite is Burning in Water, Drowning in Flame. Or Searching Through the Madness for the Word, the Line, the Way. - The Art of War by Sun Tzu - The Amphigorey books by Edward Gorey - The Pill vs The Springhill Mine Disaster by Richard Brautigan. Yes more poetry. But some of the most heartbreakingly simple, inspiring, and beautiful poetry ever written. - Void of Course by Jim Carroll (poetry!!) - Poems New and Collected by Wislawa Szymborska - If it's poetry, you can pretty much bet I've read it. - Songs of Innocence and Experience by William Blake. Also changed my life.I'm currently reading The Secret by Rhonda Byrne. And I just re-read Siddhartha AGAIN. The next book I'm going to read is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl and then Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk.
Heroes:
I adore Charles Bukowski and Leonard Cohen. I also greatly admire Albert Einstein, Frank Lloyd Wright, MC Escher, Alfonse Mucha and Gustav Klimt.I'm fascinated by both Vlad the Impaler and Elizabeth Bathory as people, but not heroes, just an unhealthy interest.
