About Me
The Seminole Warhawk Marching Band has a 40 year tradition of excellence including past decades awards of mutliple Festival of States -Florida Representative, Viginia Beach National Marching Band Festival Grand Champions (1978), a half-time performance for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, multiple championships at the Largo Golden Invitational, Florida Tournament of Bands, and superior ratings at the Florida Bandmasters Association Marching Festivals. In addition, the Warhawk Band was a national finalist band at the Marching Bands of America competition in Jacksonville, Florida. In 2005 the Seminole Band marched in the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California.
Recently, within the last fourteen years the Warhawk Band has been a sixteen time Bands of America Regional Finalist, a two time Atlanta Regional Grand Champion, a four time Semi-Finalist Grand Nationals Band, and a two time Grand Nationals Finalist Band. Regional finals performances have been in Atlanta, Orlando, Tennessee, Daytona Beach, St. Petersburg and Las Vegas. Years of participation were 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006. In 1996 the Warhawk Band was the National AA-division champion at the W.G.I. Friendship Cup Championships in St. Louis, MO.
Locally, the marching band has been a multiple grand champion at the famous Largo Golden Invitational and recently placed second and won best color guard at the 2001 contest. The Warhawk band has won the Grand Championship since 1999 at the Tarpon Springs Outdoor Music Festival and in addition has won Outstanding Brass, Woodwinds, Color Guard, General Effect, Visual, and Music. Furthermore, the band has received straight superior ratings at the Florida Bandmasters Association District Marching Festival for the past 28 years! In addition the Seminole HS Band has won 1st place and the Mayor's Cup at the Pinellas Park Christmas Parade 13 times out of the last 15 years!
Caption Awards at BOA, WGI,and local events have included -oustanding visual, music, general effect, high percussion, brass, woodwinds, drum major and color guard. The Warhawk Band has performed for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays Baseball Team, The Seminole Pow Wow Parade, Festival of States Host Band, and local events within the Tampa Bay area.
The Seminole HS Winterguard has also had a long tradition of excellence in the Winter Guard International Circuit. The program was started in the early 90's by Alan Smith, Adam Sage, and Micheal James. In the 90s the guard was a multiple time regional and national finalist. The guard was the 1993 Scholastic A Bronze Medalist and a Scholastic Open Finalist in 1994 and 1995. After a short break from WGI Seminole was a WGI Scholastic A Finalist in 2001 and 2002. They were then promoted to Scholastic Open Class in 2003. Seminole was an Open Class Finalist in 2005, 2006 and 2007. In 2007 Seminole earned the bronze medal in Scholastic Open and was promoted to Scholastic World Class for the 2008 Season. The Seminole Winterguard has also been an active participant in the Florida Federation of Color Guards Circuit and has medaled at the FFCC Championships almost every year they have attended. The Winterguard at Seminole has also been a WGI Regional Finalist and Champion in Tampa, Fort Laurderdale, Miami, Jacksonville, Gainesville, Nashville, Orlando and Atlanta.
The Seminole High School Wind Ensemble has earned straight superior ratings at the Florida Band Masters District Assesment for the past 16 years. Members of the Seminole Wind Ensemble have performed with the Florida All State bands and orchestras, BOA Honor Band and Orchestra, USF Festival of Winds and many of honor groups. The Seminole Wind Ensemble also has been invited to play at the National Concert Festival in 1994, 1998, and 2001. Students of the Seminole Wind Ensemble have won numerous amounts of money in schloarships and have gone on to study at some of the country's most prestigious conservatories and other schools of music.
