Feminism, politics, irony, learning stuff, cooking, Sunday morning talk shows, talking back to the TV when politicians and/or pundits are on it, righteous indignation, fall weather, exercise when the weather is cool, thunderstorms, chocolate, ethnic food, the Tennessee Titans, books, music, Joss Whedon, my friends, my family, and my cats.
Ben Franklin, Jane Austen, Anna Quindlen, Barak Obama, Gloria Steinem-- I know she's way too "second wave" to be hip, but I don't care, Jon Stewart, Joss Whedon, Dan Savage, and Colin Farrell--although in his case "meet" is not really the word I'd choose to follow the phrase "I'd like to..." Generally, I like people who know who and what they are and can live with it.
The Killers, Jump, Death Cab for Cutie, The Dandy Warhols, and a little bit of everything else, except country--but including the Dixie Chicks. Need to download KT Tunstall's album, but lack of funds prevents it at the moment. I am currently obessesed with the Snakes on a Plane soundtrack. I may actually buy the Cobra Starship album if the rest of it is as damned catchy as the first single.
Serenity (of course), X-Men movies, all bad sci-fi channel movies (which means all sci-fi channel movies), the Mummy movies, Jane Austen adaptations, Only You, Sliding Doors, Goonies, and various others. Have to be in the right kind of mood for a serious movie, and give me a bloody murder story over a chick-flick or "date movie" any day.
Ever: Firefly, Buffy, Futurama, early That 70's Show, Dinosaurs. Current: Veronica Mars, The Gilmore Girls (probationary status--every character on that show is annoying the hell out of me right now), Battlestar Galactica, Grey's Anatomy, Project Runway. And, almost goes without saying: The Daily Show, The Simpsons, and CNN.
Favorites: Pride and Prejudice, The Poisonwood Bible, The Crimson Petal and the White, The Alienist, Harry Potter, And the Band Played On, Schindler's List. What I'll read to pass the time, when I have time: pretty much anything else. What I'm reading right now: Public Policy textbooks, Statistics textbooks, Feminist polemics. The worst book I ever read all the way through: tie between that awful Silence of the Lambs sequel and this wretched espionage thriller called Fallback (did you know the government has secretly perfected the art of brain transplantation?)
All the suffragettes who chained themselves to the White House gate, Pope Joan if she weren't apocryphal, and there have to be some non-feminist icon ones in there somewhere--but I can't think of any.
