Oh! I am slain!

About Me

I'm a man in transition. I have recently realized that I have been living my life behind a mask of affability and vulgarity, and I'm tired of it. I feel that a lot of my good friends these days don't really know what I'm passionate about, other than my desire to make others laugh. I think the world's got enough buffoons, it's time I stopped being one.

I do not enjoy the culture of fear I live in these days. It permeates everything. I want to fight against it. I'm worried that, like Rome, we're headed for Empire instead of Republic. And I don't blame the leaders completely; I worry that Americans in general don't want to be bothered with making real choices anymore.

So I'm going to learn to fight. Apathy, cynicism, fear, all the things that keep me from working to make my country a better place. And maybe if I fight hard enough other people will see it and want to fight too.

My Interests

Theatre, current events, FairTax, books, film, and occasionally drinking.

I'd like to meet:

Old friends I've lost touch with. Nothing personal, but if I don't know you in real life, I probably won't add you to my friends list... I'm just not out to have fifty two thousand "friends."

Music:

Led Zeppelin, U2, Pearl Jam, and Carbon Leaf, w/ Keane as a new favorite.

Movies:

The Lord of the Rings films; Serenity; The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe; Batman Begins; concert footage from any of a number of bands

Television:

Heroes is the only show I really follow.

Books:

So many. I read voraciously. I really love Shakespeare, Tolkien, CS Lewis, Stephen King, Orson Scott Card, Piers Anthony, Terry Pratchett, and the Ultimates line of Marvel Comics. Really, anything that gets my imagination going.

Heroes:

This one'll be controversial: Robert E. Lee. Yes, the Confederate. Before knee-jerking about slavery, research the man. Marvin Sims, who until his recent untimely passing was my mentor... and President-at-Large of the Black Theatre Network. Captain America. Mikhail Chekhov.
