About Me

A name I call myself?
check out my art blog at http://designustrator.blogspot.com
BROOKLYN!!!

My Interests

I like reading the dictionary, old encyclopaedias and anything that can offer up random bits of information. I have a weird memory for random things. I have an obsession with collecting cookbooks, I love reading cookbooks, but I love design, illustration and art too, and i collect a lot of those books too. I think I'm a packrat.
other than that, I like that moment when you're trying to fall asleep, but you have too many thoughts and you think that you're an insomniac, but then you wake up.
oh and im on a kick with threadless lately so vote on my stuff if you gots the time!

I'd like to meet:

those who dance, talk and eat.

Music:

I honestly think I could live without music. It's usually like this, I hear something is good, take it out from the library, play the crap out of it, get sick of it and move on to something else, or someone burns me a CD, I play it, someone hears it and I get mistaken for being cool.
A guilty admission though is i can't quit jack johnson, I honestly can't, so ha! I'm not cool!

Movies:

whale rider, big fish, spirited away and only yesterday.
(Its all about the mix of the mundane and the supernatural.)

Quiet and humble movies are good too, like Amelie.
Comedies and camp, like bring it on and old stephen chow movies.

psycho beach party!

Television:

I don't really have time for TV, but say I did, and say I also had cable, I would watch the Food Network, I would watch it while eating and reading a cookbook.

Books:

I dig books, I think I was a book in my last life. Old books with foxing, leatherbound books, cookbooks, anything book.
Fiction:
this year was "a complicated kindness"
last year was "vernon god little" and the "life of pi"
Harry Potter. Soo much more but those were the most memorable.
NonFiction:
Cradle to cradle, A short history on Progress, A short history of nearly everything, Eats, Shoots and Leaves.
Cookbooks:
Gourmet (this is the quintessential cookbook, my kids will use this)
Comics:
All of the Calvin and Hobbes and City Hunter, old school manga, Buddha series for Osamu Tezuka (of Astroboy fame), and Blankets by Craig Thompson.
Design and art:
Drawing on the right side of the brain, and Inspirability. Illustration Now!

I'll keep you updated. these books are the cream, change your life cream. A lot of books aren't.

Heroes:

sandwich.

the truth of fruits of vegetables

what's that smell? oh. its me burning out.

So turns out I'm a workaholic, which also makes me a hypocrite. I'm always the one saying, "you really should take some time for yourself"... but I guess we all have trouble following our own advice. ...

Pie is the shit

So yesterday my friend held a potluck and i decided to make a pie. I never make pies, and the phrase "easy as pie", is entirely an oxymoron. So of course in the course of food preparation, I begin to...
