| View Show | Create Your OwnAs you can see, on my page I am a strong advocate for the wolf. The wolf has been very mis-understood through ignorance and fear. "Early American Indians and settlers existed together in harmony with the wolf. Respected as a wise and cunning hunter, many of the wolf's ways were adopted by these pioneers. It wasn't until the white man became a "shepherd", later to be known as the rancher; raising livestock for food instead of hunting wild game, that the wolf became a threat to him, and therefore his enemy. The inherent nature of the white man is to control that which he does not understand, otherwise destroy it. As he began to hunt wild game as a sport, this further decreased the wolf's popularity. As a result, he set out to destroy the wolf and nearly succeeded. As civilization rapidly progressed, he continued to distance himself further from the wilderness, while the wolf remained a wild predator". Debra McCann, AuthorI hope that I am able to help others understand what they can learn from the wolves as did the Native American had learned which is family and survival. Although I am not of American Indian heritage, I become in love with their free spirit of love, faith and understanding. It is only in the fears of men have we cast out the Indian of their land and are destroying the wolves because they do not understand. Create your own at MyspaceMate.com ~~ the wolf I adopted and watched. He passed away this past November 2005 at the age of 13 1/2 and had been ALPHA until he became sick. It saddens me that he is gone but Amani will never be forgotten!!! His spirit will remain forever in my soul.
