anyone interesting, intelligent, funny, honest. it's a broad question. i usually don't know if i want to meet you until i have, and then i'm either glad, or i realize it's too late...i've already met you. i like to be glad to meet you.
Just about every genre has a bit of great and a bit of crap. In no particular order, here's a smattering of my likes: Jenna Nicholls, Sheila Nicholls, Osvaldo Golijov, Eric Matthews, Garbage, Norah Jones, Stand, Michael Brunnock, Julia Darling, Angie Aparo, Allison Krauss, Benjamin Britten, Richard Strauss, Debussy, U2, Bjork, Carlyle Floyd, Pixies, Prison Love, Dolly Parton, Jude, Elliot Smith, Samuel Barber, Brahms, David Sisco, Weezer, Liz Phair, Helium, Joni Mitchell, Jeff Buckley, Coldplay, Radiohead, MVB, Bob Mould in his various incarnations, Damien Rice, Bob Dylan, Beatles, Beastie Boys, most forms of jazz (provided good performer and composition), Soundtracks: High Fidelity, Igby Goes Down, Keeping the Faith, Hope Floats...then there's music for dancing...
high fidelity, clue, LOTR, house of flying daggers, (a&e) pride and prejudice, the original drunken master, raising arizona, the color purple, eddie izzard shows
the daily show, the colbert report, documentaries about the chupacabra
revolving library...much like music, the likes are all over the place. Garcia Marquez, Austen, Robbins, On Love (de Botton), Harry Potter series, Who's Who in Hell, David Sedaris, Fernanda Eberstadt, Hornby...basically, writers who are great with language and have well-developed, well-thought-out charactes and stories...good imagery and sometimes whacked out ideas
