About Me

I miss Chicago, but have come to terms with my LA existence. I love the cold and the rain - the sun sucks. I dig the ocean but hate the beach. The ONLY photos I can ever find of myself is me sitting behind a camera or making truly idiotic faces.......that says something about me, I just don't know what yet (but it's probably not a good thing). I'm really close to my family, painfully loyal to my friends, miss my dog (how can you not miss a dog with major attitude and a name like Napoleon?), miss subways and walking everywhere, have been listening to the same 30 minute Italian lesson on CD in my car for the past 3 months because as much as I want to learn the langauge I don't have a great ear for it, and am grateful that I'm no longer teaching 5th graders in gang-land. I'm not a big fan of sleep and think coffee at 3am is the 3rd best idea ever, coming in shortly behind sex and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. And a public apology to my friends if my laugh is too loud/too annoying - you picked me as a friend, so deal with it.

My Interests

Insomnia, Film (obviously), Cinematography and Photography, Books, Music, Sarcasm, Cooking (though not necessarily always well), Coffee at 3am, Button-Down Long Sleeved Shirts, Dogs with Big Heads and Small Bodies, Fall & Winter, Glacier Wrangling (it's a fascinating career), Debating Religion and Politics at Family Gatherings, looking at other people's photographs, Chicago, fumbling my way through teaching myself Italian, meeting your friends, set stories (the worse they are, the better they are)

I'd like to meet:

Someone with decidely low expectations and are easily influenced by peer pressure - you'll make an excellent side-kick.......People of strong character, people who have principles and stand by them (what they are is less important than having convictions in your own beliefs), people who are good hearted, can make fun of themselves, are independent, love to laugh at themselves and their friends, and have a dream for something.Beautiful women with lots of disposable income that want to buy my love and make me their boy-toy; I'm okay with that too.Oh, and if you have a hardcore coffee addiction........that wouldn't hurt either.

Movies:

Heat, Love Me If You Dare, In The Mood For Love, Se7en, Solaris, The Insider, Great Expectations, Amelie, Almost Famous, The Long Kiss Goodnight (do bad movies get any better than Geena Davis playing a governement killer?), Blade Runner, Wonder Boys, Unforgiven, Snow Falling on Cedars, Once Upon a Time in the West, The Thin Red Line

Books:

I Am Legend, The Sun Also Rises, The Unbearable Lightness of Being, The Preacher comic books, Anything by Chuck Palahniuk, The Conversations, The Americans, Khalil Gibran, Snowcrash, Neuromancer, VCR Manuals

Heroes:

Hulk Hogan, Don Johnson, Mom, Sis (in blood), Other Sis (in love), Foreign Cinematographers, Anyone who can play musical instruments, Kit from Knight Rider, Alf, Face from the A Team, Mr. Belvedere (I miss that fat bloke), Papa, Khondji, Hall, Lubezki, Willis, Doyle, Mann, and anyone who's got heart.

National Healthcare

My blogs aren't typically political, and I don't believe this one, fundamentally, is either. If you've seen "Sicko", this probably hits a bit closer to home. If you haven't, I suggest seeing it (eve...
