About Me

Born in Virginia, raised in the Carolinas one pint at a time. Wait, I think that's the commercial for Carolina Blonde beer. Either way, it's true. I moved to Utah from S.C. a year ago and I'm proud to say I now know what Fry Sauce, Jack Mormons and Box Elder Bugs are. I've been here so long that I barely notice that it seems the annual temperature is somewhere around 34 degrees Fahrenheit with .08 percent humidity. I believe the world needs more friendly people and that 3.2 percent alcohol beer at 4,000 feet elevation is amazingly capable of giving someone a buzz. Don't believe me? Come watch one of our kickball games. I don't get the fascination people here have with inanimate objects, such as mountains, but they're growing on me. I even bought skis this year. Now I just need someone to explain to me what telemarking is. I think the Avenues in SLC is the coolest neighborhood I've lived in, but life on Surf Street in North Myrtle was tough to beat. I think the coast of the Carolinas is unmatched anywhere in the world and anyone who vacations, lives or retires there is extremely fortunate. Few things, if anything, can match catching your own dinner in a saltwater marsh on an afternoon following a morning on the beach. To this day, I've yet to experience as great a drive as U.S. 17 from Little River, S.C. to Savannah, Ga. I love SLC, but only wish it were on the East Coast.

A primer on polygamy

Many of you wonder if there really are polygamists in Utah. Yes, there are. Why? Because they believe God commands men to have at least three wives to reach the highest level of Heaven. http://scriptu...
