I guess I wrote too much in the first, but anyway my interests are: Film, music and poetry (not necessarily in that order). I am pretty much open minded to all forms, genres and variations of each so don't be bashful!
Like I said, anyone that shares my interests in music, slam poetry and /or film. I would love to meet people with fresh ideas and even those who are down for collabos.
Mostly hip-hop, but not exclusively. This is the genre I write in, so while it is my passion I do not limit myself. I grew up listening to everything from classic rock to heavy metal to hip-hop to classical and beyond. I like to keep an open mind, especially when it comes to something that requires as much creativity as music.
Where do I begin with movies. There are so many that I love, I don't think it would be fair to give them numerical equivalents. I love the gangster genre (not just new stuff, but the classics as well), noir/classic detective, action (if it is done right), comedy (but who doesn't). A few of my favorite films (in no certain order): Shawshank Redemption, Reservoir Dogs, Raging Bull, Godfather (1 and 2), Shogun Assassin (or Lone Wolf and Cub), Kill Bill 1 & 2, True Romance, The Matrix trilogy and the Animatrix, and so on. I love Tarantino's work along with Scorcese, Sergio Leone as well as anyone with a fresh new approach or a weel done throwback to the older conventions.
Sopranos. I have been captivated since the beginning and loved every minute since, even when people were pissed because the storyline got a little abstract and it went astray from the constant violence and vulgarity of the so-called "mobster" lifestyle. Its got substance and originality. I usually jump between Cartoon Network and Comedy Central. The Daily Show, Family Guy, Aqua Teen, (most recently) The Boondocks, Colbert Report, Robot Chicken, you know the deal.
Said the Shotgun to the Head, The Big Sleep, and Therapy (so far). I love graphic novels as well. The Lone Wolf and Cub saga is great as well as Samurai Exectutioner. A History of Violence was pretty good too.
This is tough with a capital 'T'. Saul Williams has got to be on the list for inspiring me in the realm of poetry. Beastie Boys and Run DMC for early hip hop but I'm not sure that I could include any recent artists as "heroes". Film, definitely Scorcese and Tarantino. Last but not least, Dominic Sr. RIP.
