My Interests

Rock and Roll feeds my soul. Can I cook you dinner? Can I fix your car? Tube amplifier technology and vintage ideals have taken over my cerebellum, and I like old cars and guitars. I build amps and play music because I can, and I must. If it becomes a means to an end, well sobeit. If it turns into just a job, I quit! yeah right...what the fuck happened to ethics?!

I'd like to meet:

People that I can, and will learn from. People that inspire me. People that deserve admiration.

Music:

Tchaikovsky, Sibelius, X, The Connells, Superdrag, Husker Du, Tracy Bonham, Honky, Grady, Big Sugar, Joan Osborne, Alejandro, Tom Petty(Mike Cambell), James McMurtry, Cracker, Patti Griffin, J.J. Cale, Motorhead, Motorhead, King's X, Ramones, Queen, Dead Kennedys, Angus Young, Mel Torme, Ella Fitzgerald, Brian Setzer, Marshall Crenshaw, Steve Forbert, Big Star, Michael Hedges, Dire Straits(first 4),Charlie Sexton, Doyle II, Doyle Sr., Stevie and Jimmy and Jimi, Jon Dee Graham, Ian Moore, anybody with Double Trouble-Storyville(for example), Trio, The Beatles, Cream, The Yardbirds, The Stones, Stevie Wonder, The Zombies, the Byrds, Mission of Bhurma, CCR, Badfinger, Ten Years After, Mountain, Sonny Terry, Brandon Jenkins, Funksway, The Vapors, Three Dog Night, Paul Westerberg in any form, Camper Van Beethoven, The Ventures, Jessica Jacobs, The Belairs, The Cult, Matthew Sweet, Social D., The Pixies and Frank Black's tangents, Little Richard-Elvis-Chuck Berry-Buddy Holly-Robert Johnson-Oscar Peterson, George Jones, Dwight Yoakum, Chris Isaac, Hank Sr. and on and on and on...

Movies:

Clockwork Orange, Repo Man, Easy Rider, almost any Stephen King(NOT made for TV), Raising Arizona and all Cohen Brothers jaunts, Scarface, Princess Bride, Angela's Ashes, Local Hero(great soundtrack!)

Television:

History, Food, TNT, Jeopardy!, and that groovy new documentary channel. Whatever comes on the windows in the van.

Books:

The Natural, The Great Gatsby, Lolita, Look Homeward Angel, Angela's Ashes, Catcher in the Rye, Lord of the Rings, Lord of the Flies, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Hells Angels, The Curse of Lono, anything by Al Franken.

Heroes:

tough call, many can be so disappointing. The two biggest and bestest that come to mind are SRV and Hendrix, because they were both sober(well, mostly) when they set sail. Brian, Setzer, JJ Cale, Ry Cooder, Brian May...Mark Knopfler will always be a hero, even though he did record Walk of Life and Money For Nothin'. I wish my delete button could fix that. Whoever changes the current politics/corruption/unresolved warfare shall be placed on a shiny pedestal in my book!
