About Me

I feel that there is an angel inside me whom I am constantly shocking.
~Jean Cocteau
I like to think that I'm interesting. My greatest fear, perhaps, is that there is really nothing interesting about me at all. I loathe those days when others around me shine and I am simply a gray matte finish. I live for the days that I luminesce.
I love pizza subs. I love the smell of magic markers. I love my muscles. I love high heels. I love to bleach my white laundry. I love my steak done blue rare. I love to wear sunglasses with the lenses popped out. I love Earl Grey tea. I love hot pink nail polish on my toes. I love to sleep. I love to play Scrabble. I love my piercings. I love magic. I love beef jerky. I love the word 'metamorphosis'. I love geoducks. I love dictionaries. I love to think I'm computer savvy. I love pirates. I love white noise when I'm sleeping. I love to buy cute greeting cards for no reason. I love Georgia O'Keefe's artwork. I love sunshine. I love gruyere cheese. I love to beachcomb. I love to steam up a bathroom. I love the show 'North of 60'. I love Noxema. I love strawberries right out of the garden. I love my two beautiful children. I love my Dell notebook. I love my very hard pillow.
I love Georgia's work.
I've started focusing more lately on my own spirituality and am really trying to center myself within my beliefs (I consider myself a Magickal tinkerer--still a neophyte--but ever-learning. I suppose that would make me a Pagan of sorts).
I consider myself an amateur astronomer. Egads, I love the stars! So, so beautiful! And mysterious! Such neverending depths...it is both wondrous and truly terrifying.
In the middle of the journey of my life
I found myself in a dark wood
For I had lost the right path...
And so I came forth, and once again
beheld the stars.

The Iris Nebula (CHT12K)
There are endless net of threads throughout the Universe. The horizontal threads are in space; the vertical threads in time. At every crossing of threads there is an individual, and every individual is a pearl. The great light of Absolute Being illuminates and penetrates every pearl. And also, every pearl reflects not only the light from every other pearl in the net, But also every reflection of every reflection throughout the Universe.
~The Rig Veda
Jabberwocky
..Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.
"Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!"
He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought --
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood awhile in thought.
And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!
One, two! One, two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.
"And, has thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!'
He chortled in his joy.
..Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

My Interests

My First Animated Water

I love to play with my image-editing programs and have actually made some pretty funky stuff.

I love to read...particularly about all things paranormal.

Charge and strict watch
that to this happy place...
No evil thing approach
or enter in.
~Milton, Paradise Lost

I love my family and spend quite a bit a time with them...they are my foundation and near them I am stronger.

I'd like to meet:

I'd very much like to meet 'G' -- we're in the same place so often you'd think we'd have met before now. I'll maintain the hope.

Music:

Music means a great deal to me...and has been one of those saving graces that has gotten me through those times in my life when I didn't think I'd ever be okay again (those times have been rare, thankfully, but I'm appreciative nonetheless).

My fave band is Disturbed. They're a hell of a band...man, they can rock...I end up movin' some or all of my body every time I listen to them. David Draiman (pic below) is a brilliant vocalist (and he's not bad on the eyes, either...and I totally want his lip piercings).

I love, love, love Flyleaf. Lacey Mosley's vocal talent is absolutely, bar-none, incredible. And she's gorgeous. I can't wait for another album release.

Lacey Mosley of Flyleaf

I'm also a fan of Godsmack (thank-you Ariadne), AFI (love ya' Ciar), Deadstar Assembly (with the bro Dro), Chevelle, Taproot, Tapping the Vein, Abney Park (check them out!), Paradise Lost (thanks Matt), Sevendust, Another Black Day, Black Water Rising, Puddle of Mud, Avenged Sevenfold, Priestess, Sixx A.M., Less Than Jake (thanks to my little sister), Seether, Age of Daze... This list is completely incomplete, of course, I like a gazillion other bands, too...but these are my favourite and these I play more often than not.

Movies:

"The Color Purple" -- need I say more? The movie makes me weep like there is no tomorrow...it is my all-time favourite.

I love the movie "To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar," and "Priscilla, Queen of the Desert" is also a favourite. I also love, "Labyrinth," "The Birdcage," "Willow," "Blade Runner," "Tank Girl," "A Fish Called Wanda," "The Commitments," "The Village," "The Dark Crystal," and "Goonies". I really enjoyed the movie "Rent," which has just come out.

Television:

X-Files! That show was class.

Books:

I love Anne Rice, and have probably read everything she's ever published (those books written under her pseudonyms, as well). I think "Pandora" is my favourite Rice novel.

I also enjoy Kelley Armstrong (can you see the trend here?) and love "The Women of the Otherworld" series.

Laurell K. Hamilton is another author I enjoy...not as much as Rice or Armstrong...but the 'Vampire Hunter' series was not too bad. 'Nightseer' was also pretty good.

Of course there are a gazillion other great books and great authors...but sheesh...it would take me hours :)

Heroes:

My girls.

Today it is red. Raw. The colour of the steak I thawed for dinner. ...and I imagine that the smell of it would be the same. Distasteful. Like iron, and a tad salty. Yesterday it was like a polished s...

Good movie!

Ha! I just finished watching Tim Burton's Corpse Bride. LOVED it...truly morbid. Helena Bonham Carter is the perfect voice for Emily (the corpse bride). WELL DONE!

Rejected!

So I'm in the grocery store today and I end up chit-chatting in the isle with this attractive guy (I'd actually met him previously) and I think to myself, "hey, I'm single [albeit newly], I'm a woman,...

Will it EVER quit raining here? Egads, I used to think it was incredibly strange that the local drugstore rented a large UV lamp for home-use (what an odd concept), but I totally get it now. I want my...
