I am a Second-Generation Japanese-American. Both my parents are Japanese, but they grew up in South America. (The Republic of Peru to be exact.) Hence my Japanese last name and my Spanish first name. I am an only child. My mother is a widow and as such, I was raised by my mother and my grandmother. That is my non-traditional family, there are many like it but that one is mine. I am currently 26 years old. I don't act my age but who does? In some cases, I feel very old, (computers in general and the internet are often anathema to me, for example) and in some cases, I feel like a kid. (I'm still a Mama's Boy, I like video games... etc) After two years of college, I decided to serve my country and join the World's Finest Navy. I'm still waiting to see what it's like. You see, I'm a Hospital Corpsman. I'm an Enlisted Fleet Marine Force Warfare Specialist. I have never been in the "real" Navy. I have been in the "almost" and now "real" Marine Corps. Strangely, (and this may speak for my psychological stability) I like it here, I love being "the Doc," I like what I do. I enjoy serving with Marines. As my recruiter said, "Being a Hospital Corpsman is like being a double agent. You wear a Navy uniform but are owned by the Marine Corps." I am currently in my 6th year of service and have had a great time! I have seen 13 countries during my tenure and have experienced many exciting and exotic cultures and their customs. I am naturally, comfortable with the status quo but force myself to experience new events and ideas in order to battle the forces of entropy within me.
