I have so many interests I don't even know where to start:1) Any type of sport, as long as I am playing it, not watching it! I was in the Lingerie Bowl, which is how I tore my Achilles heel last year. I love to rock climb. 2) Shopping (what girl doesn't, and have you been downtown?) 3) Cooking (I am recently learning to cook, and oh my what fun it is, a sista be HUNGRY!! I know I look like I don't weigh much, but that's just because God gave me good genes. Give me a neckbone, I will suck it dry...LOL) 4) Eating out (for those of you that know me, you know this should be No. 1 right) 5) L.A. Night Life - oh how I love it. There is always something to do. Recently, I have really gotten into spoken word and dance performances. I recently saw Nigger, Wetback, Chink, a play that completely changed my life. It deals with the breaking down of stereotypes that we, as a country, never truly deal with.
People who are interested in the craft of acting. Not just the money, or the glitz, but actual ACTING. I originally am a thespian, so all you theatre gurus, let me hear from you, PLEASE. I would love to meet the kind of people who take on labors of love with the same tenacity as a paid gig. People who want to do theatre and who want to scene study and really research what it takes to be an actor. Also, no fake azz Hollywood people, and you know exactly what I mean when I say that!! I would also like to meet anyone that is positive, but truly positive, not just positive because that's the "thing" to be, or because that's what they think they are supposed to do, just generally positive. And of course, last but not least, I would LOVE to meet anyone who can help me take my career to the next level and who believes in me and my talent. I am going to change the world and I am going to be famous and I am going to be known for being a revoultionary actress, as someone who brought the BITE back to acting. You better get on now! And remember, your dream will never leave you, even if you leave it!
My musical interests range from Bon Jovi to The Roots. I listen to everything, except classical or country...although I have heard country songs that I really do like..one was on American Idol the other night;) If I had to pick a favorite, it would probably be Oldies, like Donny Hathaway, Teddy P....TURN EM OFF! He said it with conviction, didn't he. I would have jumped up and turned off the damn lights the way he sang it!
Now this is something I take very seriously. I am going to try to list a few of my favorites, but I know I am going to forget something:South Park (the movie, wonderful message, hugely ignored), Memento (pure brilliance), Heat (Al Pacino...what else do you gotta say), School of Rock (your stomach will hurt from laughing), Sliding Doors (SO TRUE), Kill Bill (preferred Vol. 1, but understand the need for story telling in Vol. 2), Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind(THIS IS LIFE, love is eternal), The Wiz (my favorite movie growing up, I know every word to every scene and every word to every song...BRAND NEW DAY changed my life), My Life Without Me (taught me that life is precious and no matter what you go through, it could ALWAYS be worse, it made me appreciate life) and of COURSE, The Color Purple (I swear, if I had the money, I would re-release it just so the cast could be considered for Oscars)...and that's enough for now. These are SOME my FAVORITES...because it is impossible to have just one favorite movie (in my opinion, there are just too many), but here is a good insight into my psyche;)
Oh my goodness...how much time do you have to list my favorite tv shows...I will try to be brief....these are NOT in order of favoriteBOONDOCKS (absolutely mind numbing hilarious, can't wait for it to come back in OCTOBER..YEAH), 24 (one of my best friends just got a featured part...GO RHONDA, it is a damn good show, so good that I wait for Netflix so I can watch the whole season without interruption. The first time I watched the first season from Netflix, I called in sick to work because I simply could not contemplate not finding out WHO THE MOLE WAS...ok, did you just DIE when it was Nina), DESPERATE HOUSWIVES (everyone jump on the bandwagon), FRIENDS (when it was on, yes I know there were no black people on it, but dammit, that show is hilarious, although I just got hip to it from my sister, who works at the WB and got me the dvds for free), GILMORE GIRLS (whoever writes the dialogue, needs the Pulitzer for it), SOUTH PARK (the best cartoon in the world, unbelievably funny yet always a valid message), and last but DEFINITELY not least, SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE...Danny was SO ROBBED last night. I love Sabre, don't get me wrong, but COME ON!!! Did you see Danny leaping all over that stage for his solo. WHATEVER SABRE!!
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho...it WILL change your life. And I know it's gay (really, actually gay), but I am SO INTO E. Lynn Harris' books. They are wonderfully written and extremely visual.
First of all, my ultimate hero is my mom. She is the most amazing person that I have been lucky to meet. My hero is anyone who does not stand for involuntary ignorance. Anyone who sees the good in people or in a situation. Anyone who thinks of others before themselves. Anyone who takes life by the horns and rides that beast into the ground. Anyone who loves more than they hate. Anyone who unselfishly helps others. Anyone who knows they have to make a change for the world to change!"Work like you don't need the money. Love like you have never been hurt. Dance like no one's watching!!!"
