Atlas started in the industrial surroundings of Barrow-in-Furness. Bored of nothing ever happening, Paul, (lead Vocals) Kris Coulton (Guitar/Mandolin/Vocals) and Andrew Pilkington (Guitar/Harmonica/Vocals) met through a music course in Kendal, Cumbria. There they found they had a shared interest in music tastes, and music in general and decided to form a band. They recruited Paul Metcalfe and Danny Payne (now 2/3rds of ARFICEDEN, one of Manchester's up and coming creative Band's) and echodrive was alive. echodrive had a loyal following in the northwest area from 2004-2006. After college ended in 2006 they decided to test the waters and move to the big city of manchester where money was tight. Morale became low and with the departure of paul and danny, nothing came of their time there other than some valuable experience and the realisation of the hard work required to be a successful band.8 months later a move back home to Barrow-In-Furness was on the cards and the three remaining members recruited, after a long search, James Davey (Drums) and Ben Metsers (bass) to form Atlas, a quirkier, more cultured sound.Having not played once while they lived in manchester, they find themselves there every month with a residency at FUEL cafe bar. Regular performances more locally in their home towns of Barrow and Kendal are the staple gigs of the band.Always looking for contact from promoters, managers and record companies, Atlas are currently managed and produced by all round industry expert Tim Riley. (worked with the likes of Seal) Rileys invaluable experience will help in deciding where the band can go next.Atlas have met alot of creative, like minded musicians ready to break the limitations of the music industry, help each other out and share ideas (and band members!). They formed a collective called the prestonNOISEDEPT or pND for short.Visit the official site WWW.PRESTONNOISEDEPT.COM or www.myspace.com/prestonnoisedept
