I grew up in Berwyn, IL, a suburb of Chicago. I was the 5th of 6 children. After marrying in 1988, Marianne and I lived in Northlake, IL for 4 years. Then we moved to McHenry, IL in 1992 and had our 2 children there. We left Illinois in March of 2000 and lived in Lockport, NY, Near Buffalo and Niagara Falls, until December of 2002, when we moved to Tucson, AZ. We have been in Tucson for 4-1/2 years. We moved last year to Marana, just northwest of Tucson. I work as a project manager for a commercial construction company in Tucson.
In what seems like a past life but was only the 1980s, I was a huge fan of the British science fiction show, Doctor Who. (In case anyone cares, it ran from 1963-1989, and then again from 2005-present.) It was pretty much my whole life back then. I collected and traded tapes of rare episodes, and I started my own Doctor Who club in 1983. I used to go to all of the Doctor Who conventions, and I worked at many of them. It was through my club that I met my wife. It was also through a common interest in Doctor Who (either directly or as a friend of one of my Doctor Who friends) that I met all of my Chicago friends. And it was through one of those Doctor Who friends that I got my first construction job. So Doctor Who has had a profound influence on every aspect of my life. I'm still a big fan, and I still have one of the best Doctor Who video collections in existence (about 300 tapes and DVDs).
My daughter Jenna introduced me to MySpace. She's on all the time. I decided to create my own account to see what she was doing on there so much. I had been under the impression that MySpace was just for kids. Then I found there are plenty of grown-ups on here too. So I decied to see if I can make some new friends. (All my old friends are back in Chicago.)
I've been on MySpace since January of '06, and I've met some pretty good friends here. Most of them are here in Tucson, but a few are far away. I've met some of them in person and am looking forward to meeting more. I'm hoping to become "real life" friends with some of them too.
