About Me

Summer 2003, a gentle gust blew Parashuts from France to Spain dropping Coco and Manu, specialists in hip hop and beatbox, into a peaceful village just upcoast from Barcelona. They found themselves happily nesting with a group of restlessly creative souls who feel the boundaries between art, music and cinema are there to be stretched, poked, twisted, caressed, played with and laughed at..A musical snowball gathered inspirational force among the whispering pine trees and the sands blown onto the beaches. What had germinated as a hip hop project using computer-programmed electronic bases flourished organically with the melodic touches of the guitars and vocals of Manu Huerta and Andy Poole. From then on Dismensionel has evolved as a meeting and crossing (and eventual meshing) of influences, from breaking-edge electronica to 60s pop, via 70s psychedelia, rock, dub and hip hop.The first fruit, borne at the end of 2004, was ..nuve.., 11 tracks and interludes featuring guest vocalists Philsen (Germany) on ..Beating Again.. and Tumi Langa (South Africa) on ..The Big Song...A desire to bring warmth and depth to their live sound and another chance encounter on a nearby beach brought bassist Debbie Mitchell under the wing of Parashuts. Dismensionel soared through 2005, attracting airplay on Barcelona radios ..subsuelo.. and ..scannerfm.. and soundbites in national music journal ..mondo sonoro... In May, Nikita produced ..preocupacciones.., a showcase DVD fusing the visuals created for Dismensionel gigs with further splashings of videoart.December..s victory in a music competition gave the luxury of investing directly into the studio and dedicating the first half of 2006 to recording and producing ..Away Without Leaving.. at Parashuts, with the collaboration of sound engineer Fran Ibern.Early autumn brought a breath of fresh air and a new sound evolution with Andrés Andrade as drummer. A digital drumkit freeing Dismensionel from the rigidity of computer-programmed rhythms, heightening the live electronica feel. Mid summer 2007 Andres, a guy with a lot of passions in a lot of places, decided to activate the ejector seat to catapult himself fully into his computer-design, cinema, sound and photographic projects. An electrically charged final gig at the FNAC (see youtube) showed the heights Dismensionel reached with Andres on board! The temptation of exploring and exploding new musical horizons is just as strong as ever, ideas currently being propagated under the guise and disguise of ..freud quiere bailar.. Dismensionel..s alterego. Freeform improvisation blowing open the doors to all the little angelitos and demonios of experimentation.Freud Quiere Bailar gigs falling all over Barcelona with lots of glittering confetti and crazy characters...
