I start my bio with this: Philippians 4:13 --- I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. The road to success is not straight. There is a curve called Failure, a loop called Confusion, speed bumps called Friends, red lights called Enemies, caution lights called Family. You will have flats called Jobs. But, if you have a spare called Determination, an engine called Perseverance, insurance called Faith, a driver called Jesus, you will make it to a place called Success.
I started singing at the tender age of 3 with my Dad and his band, and knew from that moment on this was my true calling forever more. Growing up as a teenager, I would dream of becoming the next Sheila E, Lisa Lisa (with the mullet and shaved side burns - will never forget that : )) or female version of Prince.
My sister and I would sit in our room and harmonize on any song that came out of our radio speakers. We were a hit, in our own little world...number one fan & audience to each other.
The ultimate dream come true for me would be to complete a demo and shop it under & above ground. I have been working very hard on trying to accomplish this dream, and take care of my family at the same time. I have experienced very many bumps along the way, and will continue to do so as the world turns.
My voice is being heard thanks to MySpace and that is an awesome high that no drug can ever fathom to mimic. I aim to take it further...to the sky even, once I kick it up a notch...STAY TUNED
I wanted to take this time to educate you on the songs that I have currently playing on my page, in case you are curious as to how they came about. Here’s a little journey into the mind set of an artist/musician whilst working....ok ok, sorry, I got a little carried away there. I figure people like you actually read these, so I’ve got to keep you interested some how : ) LOL!!! Drum-roll.....
1. "Ofa Ta’engata" - Written & produced by yours truly. Again, another home brew specially made from the home computer, so please forgive the distortion and background noise...I can only work with what I have for now! Sang in Tongan throughout, not traditional as old skool Tongan songs are written, but oh well, I’m taking it new school. Hope you like it!!!! Malo!
2. "The First Time" - Written & produced by yours truly yet again. I felt the vibe of R-Shelly, so I decided to take on another path, and here’s my rendition. It’s something to listen to if you don’t have anythang else!!! LOL
3. "Hey Baby" - I wrote and produced this song myself. I even compiled the beat in Garaband, THANKS to those wonderful snippits of music available where all you have to do is cut & past to where you see fit : ) I felt like creating a "Gitter Dun" song, so there you have it. Something different, new, exciting, but most of all, it’s my creation. ENJOY!!! ; )
4. "Joy Ride" - Sung by me only. I wrote and recorded myself in front of my Imac...did my best to cut out the noise. I wrote this song with my hubby in mind. I sincerely hope you dedicate this to the one you love..as you know I did ; )
5. "Ginuine Doo Wop" - Sorry for the delay, I finally had the time to finish this song. The beat is borrowed from the Coconut Spot Records crew from my old 206 home town C-Town. I went heavy on the the harmonies here and there, just to kick it up a notch and let my vocals climb the ladder a bit...ok it ran back down now. I hope you enjoy this track..took a while for me to make..longer then usual, but I hope to pick up the pace on the next trax...keep an ear out!!!!
Currently, I am working on new songs, and posting them up ASAP...my hubby & I have a duet (see Richie Rich’ page - he’s my 1 on my friends list - Check out our song, it’s called "Make U Mine"). I am doing all the EQ’ing and mixing down myself...it’s not perfect, but oh well, it’ll work for now. I can ohnestly say that one day I’ll look back at those songs one day and smile.
