About Me

I'm really into my Music and Films. I go to around 100 gigs a year, go to the cinema about twice a week and buy far too many CDs and DVDs. I enjoy going to "Indie" bars and clubs in Sheffield, such as Leadmill, The Plug, Corporation, Threads @ DQ, The Boardwalk, The Harley and The Frog & Parrot.

Since joining the myspazz community I've took to inflicting my inner most thoughts about the gigs I attended in 2007 on the unsuspecting public. And more recently and in a more official capacity I infrequently write for LMS and Square Indie:

I drive a 1968 Karmann Ghia, which my father and I restored over a 5 year period. I also have a motorbike (Honda CBR600F) but haven't had much use out of it recently.

I work in IT for HSBC, but I very definitely work to live and not live to work.

My Interests

Going to gigs, listening to music, watching films (at the cinema and on DVD), reading, going out and having a laff, etc...

I'd like to meet:

Anyone who appreciates good music and/or films.

Music:

Arctic Monkeys, The Long Blondes, Harrisons, Little Man Tate, Milburn, The Automatic, Ian Brown, Hard-FI, Kaiser Chiefs, The Strokes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Protocol, The Bravery, The Killers, Kasabian, The Sunshine Underground, Razorlight, Jet, BRMC, The Cribs, The White Stripes, Dirty Pretty Things, The Libertines, Babyshambles, Kooks, The Rakes, Bloc Party, Be Your Own Pet, Goldfrapp, Maximo Park, Futureheads, Oasis, The Stone Roses, Radiohead, Pulp, etc.

Movies:

My top 5 films in no particular order are...
"True Romance" - I'm a romantic at heart, written by Tarrantino it's got everything, sex, drugs, romance, comedy, violence, great dialogue, a mexican stand-off to die for, and of course Elvis!
"Watership Down" - it always makes me cry, those poor ickle bunny wabbits, any film that powerful deserves to be watched again and again.
"Azumi" - broads with swords... the one thing that's better than chicks with dicks, seriously a kick-ass martial arts movie, simply breathtaking!
"Donnie Darko" - a film that always gets me thinking, great soundtrack too!
"High Fidelity" - 'Did I listen to pop music because I was miserable? Or was I miserable because I listened to pop music?'... a romcom about commitment, love and of course pop music.
Basically I've got pretty eclectic tastes. I own around 300 DVDs and go to the cinema about 100 times a year. I particularly enjoy seeing films from the far east and other smaller releases.

Television:

My top 5 favourite TV programs (at the moment) are:
The O.C. (yes I know it's trashy but I like it)
Simpsons
Family Guy
Red Dwarf (series 1-6 only)
Scrubs

Books:

My favourite author is Terry Pratchett, the discworld books are so funny.

My top 5 favourite books are "Watership Down", "The Picture Of Dorian Gray", "High Fidelity", "Catch-22" and "Interesting Times".
