I am here for Dating, Serious Relationships, Friends and Networking

About Me

Some interesting facts: I went to 23 schools K-10. People generally consider me educated, though I only completed the ninth grade. I am the youngest father with the eldest child that I know (some people think we're brothers when we go out on the town). Thanks to the South African mother that raised me, I grew up with an English accent, but Americanized to aviod being further harrassed by ignorant xenophobic rednecks as a pre-teen. I was called a Yankee before I went North of the Mason Dixon Line, and now that I live in New England, I'm called a Southerner. AGHHH!!!I ran away from my parents when I was fifteen and never went back to live with them again. I was a submarine sailor during my five-year enlistment in the US Navy. I got out and became technical writer for a great company called Advanced Solutions for Tomorrow. I did that for almost two years, then I got recalled to the Military. I recently returned from the Kingdom of Kuwait, working as a customs agent at an Army base. If you can fathom this, I'm simultaneously a proud United States Sailor, an anti-Iraq war supporter, pro decriminalization of homosexuals in the military supporter, and pro marujuana legalization supporter. My MBTI personality type is ISTJ (Intrinsic, Sensing, Thinking Judge). People in the past have mistaken my friendliness for weakness. I have a very sunny disposition, but you'll rue the day you exploit my good nature.

My Interests

Philanthropy, art, science, leadership. I'm especially interested in genographic research. (We're all related!) I have a broken family, but I'm searching for relatives. I already found my lost brother, Santos, who was put up for adoption in Spain. Specificly: Guitar, motorcycles, bicycling, organic gardening, cooking (and preparing sushi!), wine, Scottish whiskey, coffee, tea, swing, salsa, and other types of ballroom dancing, structured data, writing, reading, programming, painting, coloring with crayons.

I'd like to meet:

Musicians, artists, open-minded thinkers of all types. If this description fits you and you think I'm an acceptable person, I'd love to hear from you. If you request friend status, I'd really appreciate it if you'd please write a quick personal message so I can tell you're human and serious. Please use at least sixth grade grammar, spelling, and punctuation so that I don't accidentally mistake you for a whore-bot and have you reported as spam. Thank you.

Music:

Rock&Roll, Classical, Jazz, Folk, World: Pink Martini, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Bob Dylan, Rufus Wainwright, Nico, The Postal Service, Ben Folds Five, The Buena Vista Social Club, The Dresden Dolls, Mutato Muzika Orchestra, Danny Elfman/Oingo Boingo, The Minibosses, The Grateful Dead, The Doors, Bruce Hornsby, Randy Newman, Enya, The Eagles, The Beatles, Bach, Vivaldi, Mozart, Ravel, Handel, Nat King Cole, Coldplay, Garbage, KMFDM, Fleetwood Mac, Sting, Ozzy, Metallica, John Pizziarelli, Led Zeppelin, Blue Oyster Cult Jimi Hendrix, Prince, Frank Sinatra, Elvis,

Movies:

Doctor Zhivago, Pay It Foward, Office Space, ANY Tim Burton movie scored by Danny Elfman, ANY Stanley Kubrick flick, ANY David Lynch film, ANY Jean-Pierre Jeunet picture, certain erotica (but not in Kuwait due to Arab countries' ignorance, fear, and uneasiness with the beauty of sex). I Huckabees, No Direction Home by Martin Scorsesi, Ridley Scott's "A Good Year", Running With Scissors, The Royal Tenenbaums, Un Long Dimanche de Fiançailles, Mar Adentro. I Just saw Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain...probably my favorite right now.

Television:

News: PBS and BBC, if ever. If these are not possible, I have a workaround to simulate fair reporting: I watch Al-Jazeera, then Fox News (not necessarily in this order, either). I take in all their inflammatory propaganda and try to estimate a median, and roll with that.

The Long Road Home

I've been back in the country the good part of a week, enjoying the simple things we Americans enjoy: drinkable water on tap, public places that don't reek of feces, seeing children go down the street...
