About Me

[uk]nu:///wwworld.view release from the E.ritual project by london-born artist phil09[/uk]

nu://wwworld.view Music can move us to a place of transcendence :: trance 'n' dance :: moments of passion and contemplation that are the vital essence of our personal and planetary culture. E.ritual is inspired by a desire to create original contemporary musical forms that deepen the union and harmony between our dreamtime and our daily lives. A journey to create musical fusions, influenced by many artists, styles and cultures, in the hope of enlightening the way we see ourselves as a part of this natural living being - our world.

E.ritual is the more experimental work (electronica/IDM/progressive house) of phil09 [ www.myspace.com/djpheel09 ], who plays chillout, nu jazz, downtempo and neo-soul at clubs, publicity events and private parties. This London-born artist lives in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and is inspired by early jazz-funk fusions, including the works of Miles Davis and Mongo Santamaria. phil09 started as a percussist, playing congas and effects before learning to play African rhythms on the Djembe

After much partying, he realised the shear grace and power of the work of some DJ's and with a growing awareness of nu rhythmic tendencies in electronica, he worked on live fusions between these and percussion, strengthening his developing talent. Living full-time in Florianopolis, southern Brazil, he began mixing electronic and organic percussion with deep/progressive house and break beat during early 2002, while researching his own language in experimental electronica and IDM, inspired by the talent and integrity of DJs and producers like John Digweed and Jay Denes. More recent musical research has led phil09 into the jazzistic rhythmic world of Lounge/Chillout and back to the inclusion of his early love of artists like Miles Davis, Pat Metheny, Steve Reich, and consideration of more recent jazz/nu jazz mixes, including artists like Jazzanova, GB, Terranova, Dave Borsu, 2 Block Radius, Blue Six and others, all of whom figure in his sets and sunset parties.

Subsequent works will almost certainly reflect this change in influence towards jazzy deep house and percussive down-tempo
