Cilantro and Jones (CN'J) is a band comprised of two former rock legends Frank Cilantro and Leroy Jones. CN'J came together in 2001 and wrote and recorded 10 songs in a period of 2 months in an inexpensive loft in Boston's Chinatown. Both would agree that there was natural chemistry between the two, but both would also agree that they lacked the confidence and ambition to do anything with their songs that had come so easily. Shortly after their 10 songs were recorded both members took a break on good terms and went their separate ways with each one feeling indifferent about the magic they created which was probably due to the fact that the songs have flowed so effortlessly. Frank moved to Amsterdam and now resides in NYC. Leroy got married had children and lives in an unknown location in Florida. Although the two have stayed in touch through the years, they have just now decided to pick up where they left off.
Because of their apparent apathy and ease of writing both members dismissed the songs as being unfinished. Only a few copies of their music was given to close friends. However, good music has its way of gettin' around and several people have asked permission to use their songs in movies and compilation albums. In fact, rumour has it that the idea for their song 'Hollywood' was taken and was recorded by a major recording artist. The song, which condemns the total lack of morals and publicizes meaningless media hype is now a constant theme that continues to plague the music industry to this day.
When one listens to the tune 'Freedom Fighters' they will instantly think it's a reference to our recent terrorist attacks and threats against the US. What one must realize is that these songs were written before any such attacks were made and have now become a cliche topic in pop culture today. There is a chemistry shared between the two which is unparallel to any recording artists today.
If you found this site, listen to the songs, if you want more, we have it. If that's not enough we will make more. The author cannot speak for Cilantro, but Leroy had lotsa material that he doesn't want t share with anyone but Cilantro. Please convince them to keep this project going and in the words of CN'J...
