Dj Escher originally grew up in the UK on a diet of early 90s break beat and drum n bass, listening with a keen ear to the worlds finest djs week in week out gaining valuable experience on how to rock a party. Moving out here in the late nineties to follow the breaks scene where it seemed to be most popular, he gained residencies at Kerfuffle in Manly and Blowpop in Kings cross, Sydney. Playing various different set times over the last few years has helped his record box become incredibly varied, with everything from party shakers to head nodders, he has consistently proved he can not only keep up with Australias best, but often out do them.
Tim has been a local producer for the last five years handing out his latest tracks to the breaks djs in Sydney capturing the crowds response, and getting back in the studio for more of the same. The Australian labels listened with a keen ear to Tims music and finally the hard work payed off.
In 2005 the duo signed a contract with one of the leading breaks labels in Australia, Breaking Point, home to Basskleph and Nick Thayer. The label's initial releases have gained worldwide acclaim for attention to detail and pure quality, turning heads from all of the big players in the scene. The boys will be adding to this already respected roster of talent, their own underground blend of hip hop and breakbeat, giving the label something new to be unleashed on it's fans throughout the world.
Signing the deal with 'Breaking Point' has given their dj sets a unique style and flavour. With a mixture of unreleased material from the label artists, and their own party rocking bootlegs, it not only keeps them one step ahead of the competition, but always makes them fresh and exciting to watch.
Due to all this i'm sure the boys reputation for creating a vibe on the dance floor will surely grow, and will see them taken to new heights over the next few years.
Admittedly this was the first time I had seen the Street Punx perform but I will definitely be back for more. With fresh takes on classic tracks and originals that will no doubt become classics, these talented locals are the kind of acts you go and see so you can tell people I saw those guys before they were famous - because you just know theyre gonna be.
