I am here for Friends

About Me

MyGen Profile GeneratorI'm boring, you don't want to know...But if you do, read on.I'm in my late 30s (yup, I was an 80s child), married and a nurse. Hub and I are pretty much both into the same stuff (he's only 3 days older than me so he's an 80s child too) though he detests my job! Mind you, I detest my job sometimes too. We have two adorable dogs, both rescued border collies (Max and Bonnie - you can see pics inthe photos section) who are a damn site less trouble than kids! We enjoy going to Whitby Goth weekend; to meet friends, enjoy the general vibe, hopefully see some half-decent bands, and have a drink or two (I'm usually driving but at least I don't have to at WGW). I'm not a dj or a club night organisier, but I do go to gigs and club nights, enjoy my music and am always willing to give something new a listen (as long as it's not a genre on my 'hate' list).

My Interests

Music, Reading, History, Computers, The Sims, my dogs. Oh and Whitby Goth Weekend.

I'd like to meet:

Christopher Lee, but somehow I don't think he'll be around here much... Otherwise, I'll be keeping in touch with friends and keeping tabs on bands I like.

Music:

All sorts. Goth, some electronica, folk, new age, rock, classical... Don't like 'modern' R&B, rap, a lot of metal bands (some are OK), hiphop, country and western and techno.
Examples? The Mission, All About Eve, The Cruxshadows, The Last Dance, Pro-Jekt, The Damned, The Faces of Sarah, Tin Omen, Swarf, Beborn Beton, Iris, Chamber, Loreena McKennitt, Dead Can Dance, Screaming Banshee Aircrew, Mediaeval Baebes, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Assemblage 23, Theatre of Tragedy, Absurd Minds, Holst and Clannad... that should give you an idea!

You are a Romanti-Goth, you like to don yourself in
velvet, lace, and poet shirts. You enjoy
classical art and literature. Have a
fascination with all things fantasy and
Medieval. You enjoy dancing and twirling
yourself to the slow Ethereal music like The
Shroud, Faith and the Muse, and This Ascension.
With the popularity of "Neo-Goth",
and EBM, Romanti-Goth's are becoming rare. Take
pride in that! Picture of Faith and the Muse

Doctor Who

I have to say that I think this series has been the best so far since it restarted and I still haven't seen the last episode yet! And to cap all that wonderfulness off, I just received the coolest bir...

Spring is here and so is the Lurgy

It's a nice day today. The sun is shining, the sky is blue, there's a nice breeze (so I can still wear my big coat without getting too hot) and I feel like crap so I can't enjoy it all properly. I've ...

Nearly March already!

What happened to Winter? I think we had 3 days of it the beginning of this month when we actually had snow and ice in Liverpool. It's raining again now funnily enough. I haven't been doing anything ex...

Countdown to Whitby!

Less than a month to go before WGW! Yay! Have been very bad and bought more new things that I didn't need, including a pair of madfish boots which are dead comfy. Am getting excited already. We're als...

Weather and Music

Yay! The weather has broken - for now at least. It has been so unbearable in work, I've been surprised I haven't keeled over. It's also pretty damned hard to look professional in your uniform when the...

Goths and Immortals

Any of you out there who are Highlander fans will understand the significance of the ubiquitous trenchcoat. Something struck me today -  a cloak would probably work equally well. And what group o...

Burned and Bitten, but happy

Well, that was fun!  We've just got back from a holiday in Scotland where we actually got sunburned (despite copious applications of factor 30) as well as eaten alive by the dreaded midgies. Paul...
