A rapper who appeals to both audiences is rare and Rik Havoc is one of those artists. The talented new comer laces the club anthem “Meet Me at the Bar†with his hypnotic flow and drops knowledge and prolific lyrics on “What’s Goin’ On,†proving that Rik Havoc has something for everyone. Born and bred in Philadelphia, twenty 27 year old Rik Havoc started rapping at the age of ten. “I was introduced to music in the early 80’s, my uncle was a DJ and I’ve been in love with it ever since,†he recalls. The rapper cites hip-hop legends Kool G. Rap and Rakim as influences. Hip-hop has evolved since the days of Kool G. Rap and nowadays many rappers romanticize a street life that they never lived or talk about their cars and jewelry, Rik Havoc speaks the TRUTH. “A lot of rappers claim they keepin’ it real but I keep it real cause of what I feel, forget what another person thinks,†the rapper says. While many rappers refuse to accept the responsibility of a role model, Rik Havoc recognizes the power of the mic. “It’s up to a rapper to realize that he is on a platform and he must utilize his voice not just to rap and make it sound good, but also to deliver a message that younger people can learn from,†the artist says. Rik Havoc can rap about anything from partying to politics. His music speaks to club hoppers and die-hard hip-hoppers.
