Tommy Vee is the son of and basist for Bobby Vee. What a gas! I have been playing for my Dad full time now for coming up on 15 years (minus a one year break to play with The Big Guiars From Memphis... but that's another story). In that time I have gotten to play music I love in some of the coolest venues around the world. I have also gotten to play with almost all of my heros and friends! Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Dion, Paul McCartney, Andrew Lloyd Weber, Tim Rice, Ronnie Wood, Mick Taylor, Andy Sharrocks/AKA Skinny Ass Rocker & The Smokin' Jackets, Fabian, Frankie Avalon, Johnny Rivers, The Turtles, The Crickets, The Shirelles, The Nelson's, The Chiffons, Johnny Preston, Johnny Tillotson, Chris Montez, Brian Hyland, Lou Christie, Sam Moore, Danny and The Juniors, Mitch Ryder, Lesley Gore, Brenda Lee, Tommy Roe, Little Eva and many more... While all of that was going on I managed to record five albums with my brothers Jeff and Robby as The Vees. I have also recorded and/or toured with Nanci Griffith, Johnny Reno, Big Guitars from Memphis, Beej Chaney, Jack Knife and the Sharps (my favorite to date!!!). For the past year I have had the honor of playing all of Carol Kaye's parts in a show that pays tribute to the Beach Boys Pet sounds album. VERY COOL!A recent career highlight for me, and this one is at the top of a mountain of cool gigs... Is the tour I did of Iraq playing for the troops with Jack Knife and the Sharps. I've traveled to gigs in everything from a beat up van to a private jet (and all points in between) but nothing, and I mean nothing, beats going to a gig in a Chinook helicopter!!!As you can see from the schedule below, we have a great year lined up. We will be in Branson with Fabian, Chris Montez, Brian Hyland and the Chiffons. Gary Lewis and the Playboys, The Comets, Paul Revere and the Raiders and Bill Medley will also be playing the theater.
