Heroes:
My hero’s are the people who have shown me compassion and made me into the person I am today! These people helped me look a little bit deeper, they helped me see things that were present when I was not aware. Most of these people are NOT famous(or atleast not yet), because they are, or were my teachers. I feel being an educator is the most rewarding and admirable job one can have. God knows they don’t do it for the pay…
My hero’s include:
My mother for raising all six of us on her own; My Father for dying young, passing me his artist genes, and his hands; My sister Julie for showing me anything is possible if you want it bad enough; My sister Jenny for being a great teacher and a smart ass; My sister Suzanne for showing extreme passion and being the most talented writer I know; Both my brothers for being smart and great providers for their families; My daughter for showing that the simple things in life are the most important, I love her more than one else on this planet; Auntie Marica!!! You are the greatest, and all the Hetzler's for that matter; Hyunmee Lee for teaching me how to paint and not be afraid of gesture; Ryan Hanson for opening up an orphanage Africa and going above and beyond, for more info www.greeneyesinafrica.com Give him a dollar; Bob Dewitt for turning me on-to art History, and making me be on time (even though I had to run across campus in 10 Minutes, usually in high heels); Catherine Downing for giving me hope in my work, and teaching me not to give up, even when I felt I was going to become the Next Van Gogh (minus the becoming famous 100 years later); Steve Fullmer for teaching me to read between the lines, over analyze everything, and really enjoy literature; Paul Paret for being the most interesting Art history teacher at the U (I thought you were just a pretty boy-I was wrong); Steven Tuttle for the short essay class, You gave me the freedom to write the way I talk, not worry so much about grammar, and express myself-you truly are a funny guy; Justin Diggle for showing me how to print the “Proper†way; Steve Lockett for being very patient and showing us a technique that is almost a lost art; And to all my TRUE friends, You know who you are! Thanks for being compassionate, open minded, funny, NOT SHALLOW, and loving me no matter what!
These are my hero’s, I only hope one day I can follow in their footsteps and make this world a better place!
