Kunley McCarthy held many jobs ranging from operating the sound system Road Sonic , being a member of the Fab Five road crew to being a Policy Data Entry Clerk before becoming a member of the illustrious group, Ward 21. He was introduced to King Jammy by Suku and also played on the The Mighty King Jammys Super Power before moving on to working in the studio as apprentice engineer. It was not long after working in the studio that Kunley found himself correcting artiste or giving suggestions that he thought would make the songs better, when he penned his first and Ward 21s debut smash single, Haters on the Badda Badda riddim. Kunley's rich baritone voice and speedy delivery of lyrics was something original and fresh, unlike anything else heard at that time and his style was soon imitated by many artistes to come. Kunley is truly gifted as a songwriter and has composed such hits as Rhyme, Garrison, Full up the Party and Hey Gal. As a producer he has stepped out to the forefront doing production for Ward 21 and new artiste under the joint label Natural Bridge, Mr. Peppa. Besides the music, Kunley has a deep sense of friendship and treasures nothing more than family and good friends. He believes in honesty and humility. Quiet and subdued, he is one to get in your face if deemed neccessary. Never one to back down from what he believes in. A privilaged beneficiary of the teachings of St. George's College likewise the sometimes mean streets of Waterhouse and New York City which makes him no push over but nevertheless compasionate to the last. He's a serious workaholic but will always make time for his beloved Manchester United Football Club and his St. George's Slayers Basketball Club. Here's one strong willed Jamaican!
