COMFEST 2007!!! Stories of drunken debauchery and my graceful eating of pavement to come :)

About Me

I'm a southern girl living in the midwest and loving it.
I'm passionate about music, musicians, and all things related.
I'm getting used to the cold and learning to love wearing layers.
I work too much and still don't think it's enough. I'm an overachiever.
I love all blankets long enough to cover my toes, and fuzzy ones are the best.
I've never had a cup of coffee, but will fake it in the office with hot chocolate if needed.
I drink too much liquor, much too often.
My family is small, but close.
I drive fast.
I sing loud.
My laugh is infectious.
*Update: I finished my half-marathon and it kicked my ass!!!*
I'm wondering if it's OK that I just turned 27 and I'm scared to death that I should be more grown up than I am.
I love and appreciate my friends, they are my extended family.
I'd love to quit my job and become an early development teacher in an urban school. I'm too financially motivated right now so give me 5 years.
I just watched "Texasville" for the first time as an adult and was reminded of what a strange little town I was born and raised in.
I will learn how to really play the guitar (this means actually learning chords, yuck!!) and then the fiddle.

My Interests

Music, live shows, movies, cooking, politics, reading, being goofy, laughing, road trips and travel in general, college football and basketball, working myself to death, Kettle One vodka, enjoying every bit of sunshine I can get, cookouts, cold beer on a hot day.

I'd like to meet:

In general, interesting, smart, creative people that know how to have a good time, but also know what it means to be an adult. Good taste in music, definitely a BONUS!
Someone who inspires me to learn more and do better.
Someone who makes me smile just by walking in a room.
Someone who understands my crazy schedule.
Someone who is open to the idea of marriage and kids, but isn't necessarily itchin' to do it any time soon.
Someone who gives good hugs.
Someone who says what they mean and mean what they do.
Someone who will stand up to me when I'm being selfish.
Someone who doesn't get freaked out when I cry because I'm happy, sad, anxious, mad, stressed, or any of the gagillion other emotions that draw tears :)

Music:

The list is too long and ever changing. My favorite genres are: punk, new wave, good singer/songwriters, indie rock, dance rock, dub/reggae, brit-pop, alt country, etc.
My Top 5:
1. The Clash
2. The Velvet Underground
3. Talking Heads
4. Radiohead
5. Johnny Cash

Movies:

Indie flicks, movies with a great score/soundtrack, movies that make me think, 80's teen flicks, anything with John Cusack, Vince Vaughn, or Angelina Jolie. Favorite movie of all time is still Valley Girl. Where is MY Randy?!? Modern English and the Plimsouls...always the way to this girl's heart ;)

Television:

24, Lost, Grey's Anatomy, Nip/Tuck, Entourage, Project Runway, The Amazing Race, What About Brian, and too many more that I'm trying to weed through. Damn TV industry for putting out good stuff this fall. Thank goodness for TiVo.

Books:

Textbooks, emails, and chick-lit. I save substance reading for school breaks and then it's usually non-fiction and politically themed or biographies.

Heroes:

Meg Whitman, Martha Stewart, Joe Strummer, D.P. Moynihan, and my boss. What a group...love to get them together in a room for dinner, haha. Where's John Favreau when you need him ;)

My Blog

Update

First month of 2008 went by fast and it was good.  I got settled back in pretty quickly after being in TX for the holidays.  Had a low key NYE and NYD, but definitely fun.  School is go...

Looking Ahead

As I've said before, I don't "do" resolutions, but I definitely think setting goals is important.  I've been working on my 30 by 30 list so that's given me quite a pool to choose from, but here's...

2007

2007 was a great year.  My second year in Columbus and I really felt like it was home.  I actually stepped up and entered some social environments by myself, go me!!  Personally, I real...

Football...see, it’s in the blood!!!

I've been under a rock apparently, but my high school alma mater (3rd generation alum) has been named the greatest TX HS football program of all time.  Cool article below.  Also note t...

I did it!!

Race went REALLY well!  I accomplished both goals, the first being to just finish and the second being to finish in 4 hours or less and I did (3:55:26).  YEAH!!!  I'm kinda pissed that ...

OSU Athletics in the Wall Street Journal

Aside from the ridiculous "re-cap" of Ohio's economy, an interesting read.     At $109,382,222 for the current year, Ohio State's athletic budget is the largest in the nation and the bigges...

The Sweater Song

I thought I would be tired of it by now, but I just adore the song on the Old Navy sweater commercial.  And I must say, kudos to the marketing geniuses because those sweaters are flying out of th...

Im still alive!

I know I've been hiding out.  Not intentionally, but it just happens like that sometimes.  Last week was brutal.  The muscular pain started late Monday and I really didn't feel normal a...
