Let's forget about that band-bio for now. Unfortunately I just recently ended up in the worst case scenario for a musician: my beloved Gretsch Astrojet guitar has been stolen after my last gig in Hamburg on Sept., 15, 2007. That's a bloody desaster! I don't think it's very likely the guitar is going to be sold outside of Germany and if it's about to leave this country most likely towards the east.
Anyway: there is loads of images of the instrument on this MySpace-site. The guitar has been reported to German police as stolen half an hour after being taken away. Just in case on of you out there sees this guitar wherever: please try to call the local police and let them know. They should be able to do something about it. Here is a detailed description of my Gretsch:
electric guitar Gretsch "Astrojet"
asymmetric solidbody
colour: banana-yellow (the guitar has been lousy re-varnished by the pre-owner; you can see some white priming where the varnish has gone off)
equiped with two Gretsch FilterTron-Pickups
Burns-Vibrato
on it's frontside (close to the upper cutaway) there's a small tin-plate with the engraving "Gretsch Astrojet" attached
three tone-controls
three flip switches
asymmetrically arranged machine heads (4 on the upper side of guitarhead 2 on the lower side)
black fretboard and black head plate
reference number of German police in Hamburg-Wilhelmsburg: 044/1K/0633923/2007
To be honest: the chances to get back that guitar are not the biggest ones. So just in case one of you out there has got a Gretsch Astrojet and is willing to sell it for a reasonable price - please let me know.
Most other things about maekkelae's trash lounge can be found on the labelwebsite of 9pm Records. This space is mainly about upcoming gigs, my urge of (very) occasionally writing blog entries, displaying new or unreleased material and giving you a chance to get in touch directly.
Except of my solo performances as maekkelae's trash lounge I'm also a steady member of the lose trash-folk-lofi-pop touring collective The Anglo German Low Stars alongside with my friends Erich A., Grae J. Wall, Harry Coltello, Andy Keeble and Clive Product.
Just in case you want to purchase my records - you might either contact me directly or check on KIOSKI Onlineshop . Another way to get hold of them is through Finetunes or Endmix (downloads).
The Mäkkelä's Trash Lounge releases on 9pm Records are btw. in Finland available through Supersounds .
Oooops! Just figured out that there was a crappy demo-version of "Christopher Walken Day" on this site. Probably for months. Shame! Well - just recorded anyway a new version with the Orkesteri girls. Hope I can add a good version to this website pretty soon.
And yeah - if you fancy a nice coverversion of which you probably don't know the original feel free to check out my contribution to the Thin White Rope Tribute compilation. Just click in my friends-list on "Hidden Desert"
