about me:
I don’t take myself to be really great at anything but I sure have fun pretending. I am very much against drugs, including Pot and X, dont do it around me but i wont judge you for it. I have tried niether and no I am not curious - so dont ask me to. I will be the person you honk at for going the speed limit in the fast lane not the idiot blazing by you in the pull over lane during traffic. If I vent something negative about how you, I will find the best part of you to to talk about before I finish - If i forget to; slap me please.I love to study world religion, history and science. Biking outdoors and swimming in the ocean is the best. I have watched Star Wars and like movie such as Lord of the Rings ( you know the type) and was inspired by them to merge that setting into dance and came up with Electric Light Circus. Its an off broadway show series that I created with my team of awesome dancers (the Planet Funk dancers) and costume people (go Fran). I built a dance studio which I run and operate called Planet Funk Academy in Houston, TX. I have amazing friends that I don't know what I would do without. To my best friend Harwood, and my great friends at planet funk...I send my love. The best thing to come home to is my beautiful girlfriend Donna (I love you), our 2 awesome dogs Teddy(yorkie) and Max(white lab), and my bird earnie(scarlet macaw parrot). I have an amazing family. My mom and dad are perfect parents. My Mom can beatbox, and my Dad fixes the most amazing soup. I have 2 brothers; Derek and Judd, both are great fun. I'm so blessed to have some many amazing people in my life. I send my love out to all of you.

Dancing with Paula Abdul 3 feet from me and having her turn to me and say “hey Shawn how is it goingâ€
Getting a call on my cell from ABC studios in New York asking if i want to open up “Good Morning America†with a dance routine and a dive roll. Then having Diane Sawyer say “Planet Funk is Legendary†on national television.
Being the first dancer to perform in the reliant stadium for the TEXANS half time even before the cheerleaders got to Jam.
Walking into my studio with Wade Robson as the Planet Funk teacher that day.
Getting to impersonate John Travolta as Danny in Grease for Super Star Roger Clemonds. The fun was having John Travolta himself introduce the act. I did not know that untill i got there. It was Rogers birthday and he loves Grease.
Performing on a really cool stage with the cast, director and vp. of Dralion - Cirque du Soleil as my audience. Then getting a check as an entertainer for Cirque du Soleil.
Getting to walk into President Bush senior office and meet him and having him ask me about Planet Funk. What George said Planet Funk? OK Bush fan or not you would love to have that man hug you.
Buying a ticket at AMC theatres at the box office for my own movie. Then getting big fat Gold statue for winning best feature film “WIP†at World Fest the following week.

Shawn Welling is the chief director of Planet Funk which he founded 15 years ago.
Shawn started his career by performing & choreographing for the NBA World
Championship games for the Houston Rockets in 1994 and continued with NFL &
NHL half-time shows, concert openings, stage productions, music videos, over 60
television appearances plus conducting dance master classes throughout the United
States.
Performance highlights includes Cirque du Soleil (Dralion) in which Shawn and his
company were hired by Cirque to perform their Elements of earth show, and Good
Morning America, which Diane Sawyer heralded Planet Funk as legendary. Shawn has
co-hosted 2 ABC dance specials (one submitted for an Emmy) with Debra Duncan, as an
NBC TV special with radio and TV personality Sam Malone. In 2000 Welling built
Planet Funk Academy, which recently aired on the Bravo network in a 5-week series that
was also highlighted on The Oprah Winfrey Show to a 5 million viewing audience.
Shawn has recently produced a variety of successful master classes for the Disney Lion
King dancers, the cast for the Broadway hit Oliver, and the well-known MTV star,
Wade Robson.
Shawn has choreographed and performed in the Downtown Theater District for over a
decade: 7 Hobby Center shows,5 at Jones Hall and 5 at the Wortham Theater. Roger
Clemens is just one of the celebrities who has hired Shawn and his team . Recently,
Shawn and 2 of his dancers visited with President George Bush senior in his office in
regards to the acclaimed 2 hour rendition of Planet Funk's latest show Electric Light Circus
which aided in the Tsunami Relief.
H.P., Apple Computer, NASA, United Way, Second Baptist Church, Girl Scouts of America,
and ConocoPhillips resemble the wide variety of clients that have hired Shawn, his
company, and dedicated directors.
Shawn Wellings latest endeavor is film production. Shawn just directed his latest film ELCX wich won a golden award at the Film Festvile. ELCX will be making a debut at the October 2006 Sundance Film Festivle.
