About Me

Hello and welcome to my corner of MySpace! I'm Lance Zielinski, vocalist, sometimes scholar, father, husband, and just a guy with too many hobbies. :-) But I think it's safe to say that music is my primary focus in life.
I've always had a love for music. I remember being 4 years old and singing in front of the church my parents went to, and how comfortable it felt singing in front of people. I remember that feeling a completion when I connected with so many people at once during my first performance.
As I got older, I sang the song "Tomorrow" from the musical "Annie" in front of a large group of people. That night, I got my first standing ovation. We sang in front of the governor of Washington State back then, and performed in concert halls throughout the region. It was at that time that I found I truly loved performing live music in front of people.
In the following years, I went on to be in various choral groups while I was growing up, until in high school I joined a barbershop quartet doing traditional barbershop music and doo-wop/60's tunes. It was a great time in my life musically, and my fondest memories were of singing "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" in front of my entire high school, as well as this time in Port Angeles in front of a bunch of different schools going to an event in Victoria.
In college, I signed up in the music program, and majored in vocal and flute. I was in the Honor's Choir, and Jazz Ensemble. It was a good time to be alive for me. I was a 4.0 student, then met someone, who ended up getting pregnant with my son. Guess I didn't learn everything I should in high school... ;-) I had to drop out of college and look for a way to pay my new child support bill.
The next few years of my life sucked, quite frankly. Fortunately I made some very good friends who are still close to me during that time and it kept me alive and sane. Things were hell with finding work without a college education, and relations with my son's mom were less than desireable. During that time I hosted and performed at Karaoke bars to keep singing, but was otherwise dead musically.
In 1996, my life changed when I met the woman I eventually married. We moved to Seattle, where I joined a cover band, singing everything from Ozzy to Greenday. After a couple years I quit the cover band scene and started seeking an original band. After a couple failed auditions, I finally joined a Viking Metal band. A year later, after some lineup changes, Fatalis was formed. While still evolving, Fatalis has some great people in it, and I look forward to what we continue to create.
Very recently I've branched out musically to doing recording projects with fellow friends and musicians. You'll see some of these crop up on occasion in the music section of my page. And very recently, I've taken up opera. I know that sounds messed up considering the other musical styles involved, but the singing is challenging and requires a lot of skill. And I hear the pay's not bad either!
I don't know where my journeys will take me, but I do know that I won't sit on my ass and let it be boring. Hope you enjoy the ride, when I have time to post about it!

What 80's Metal Band are you? (with pics)

Metallica
You are a band with Metal in it's name. Metallica. You have no costume or make-up, you just serve metal up the ass. You rock!

My Blog

Losing friends, and not knowing why

I've not written in this blog yet, so I figured I'd drop something in here. An old friend from my music circles has recently cut ties with me.  When I realized this, I pinged them to see what was...
