Justice for all....and a Hard Boiled Egg!

About Me

I first joined myspace (after a suitable period of resistance so I couldn't be accused of jumping on the bandwagon) at someone else's behest - Now I seem to be trying to get everyone else on board as well. Ive never really been a hugely active member, but Ive decided that thats now going to change. Before we talk about me, lets talk about those important to me. First are my two best friends Rob and Matt.
Rob is a hero - he is always trying to save someone. And, like a hero, he is always being foiled by some super villain in his quest to Do Good. However, in a strange twist, he is always the one foiling himself; he is his own worst enemy. He is an avid, (actually obsessed) collector of transformers, comics and marvel figures. Something (I am horrified to admit) I really admire.
Matt is an accountant with an afro. Id like to add more, but that really is all that needs to be said.
Then there's my lover Alex - a Blonde with a maths degree and a predilection for quantum theory and theoretical physics. She loves to cook, listen to my bring and grudge-laden tirades, and actually be Happy. An occurrence so rare in my experience that the Capital letter is fully justified.
Finally, there's me. Im not a hero, and I sure as hell don't have an Afro. I wouldn't say I'm a cynic, but I have actually tried to strangle several die-hard optimists. Most of my life now revolves around work, (which isnt so bad considering that me and Alex work together) and strangeley enough, I actually love my job. Most people would describe me as cold and nasty, but Im not really (I hope). I just need someone to listen to me for five minutes. I don't have middle gears like most people, I'm either really chilled or really intense with no grey area so to speak. I'm crap with Grudges (I have many) and Im also bad at Charity (I dont do it).
On the plus side, I encourage people to speak their minds (as I do) and be themselves - I cannot stand osmotic personalities. I don't believe in bullshit (even though some would argue that my job requires it) and I have a strongly pragmatic outlook on life: If it's not broke, don't fix it, and if it is - get another one that wont. The last time I tried to fix something, I lost more than just my time.

My Interests

Reading, Writing, Running, American Football (I know, but i played it at Uni and got hooked) also getting lashed down the pub . I believe in the balance of life; exercise must be tempered with indulgence *nods*

I'd like to meet:

E. from the Eels so I could shake his hand;Tommy Lee so I could headbutt him.

Music:

Lessee...Metallica, DragonForce, Billy Talent, Staind, Distillers, Vitalic, Green Day, System of a Down, Interpol, Thrice, AC/DC, Weezer, Foo Fighters, Modest Mouse, Marilyn Manson, Adema, Taking Back Sunday, Soundgarden, Rammstein, Radiohead........ Not so eclectic to make me look cultured, but not exactly one string to my bow either.

Television:

I'm a bit of a sucker for Lost and Six Feet Under, and i love Futurama and Family Guy.

Books:

I am such a GEEK - here are some of my top authors: George R. R. Martin, Terry Pratchett, Greg Keyes, Robin Hobb, Tom Holt, Robert Asprin, Terry Brooks, Robert Jordan (if only for the reason that I am now waiting for book 12 - the series has gone so badly downhill that the only reason i want to finish it is the stupid amount of time i have spent reading books 1 - 11. If he drops dead before finishing the series, I'm going to be pissed.) Asides from these, anything that makes me chuckle goes down well.

Heroes:

First of all, this guy: Ive decided to adopt him and Call him Olaf - isn't he great? And of course: Dr. Zoidberg - my favourite lobster.
