Lola is a young Belgian dj, who started buying vinyl one day, because she suddenly, on a party, decided she wanted to start playing records for a crowd, after watching the dj go crazy. She bought some second hand stuff and taught herself the skills.
Three years have passed since she touched turntables for the first time, and up to now loads of partypeople have enjoyed her gigs in different countries, small villages and cities like Antwerp, Brussels, Delft (Nl), Val Thorens (F) and Florence (I). Her very first gig was at the KultuurKaffee in Brussels. She started playing as a resident of the Break The Silence parties at the Brussels University and soon she was asked to play several other gigs in Brussels (Espace de nuit, The Lounge, Botanique), Antwerp (for P-Magazine, a Flemish monthly magazine), Kalmthout (Youthopia) and even on a crazy snowboardtrip to Val Thorens in France (SnowMadness’03). When she went abroad to study in Florence, she got to play in the city’s Bar Fiasco and Club XO. After she came back, she became an organising crew member of Break The Silence and she also started creating her own The Beat Clinic parties with her friends of the tijgers & beren compagnie .
In february 2005 she got her own weekly radioshow on XL Air , the brandnew internet radio of the VUB and the audio-department of the Erasmus school in Brussels. During the two hour show, she invited Belgium’s finest dj’s for a laidback talk and an excursion through their personal record collection. Among the guests where Lady Vortex, Wontime, Redhead, Trish Van Eynde, St.Dic, D’Stephanie, Paul Chambers, Johnny S. Mad and Raphael.
On july 5th, Lola got to mix on Studio Brussel , Belgium’s hottest national radio. She was also invited to Radio Centraal in Antwerp and she got to mix on another excellent Belgian radiostation: FM Brussel . This summer, she played at the Forest Festival and a couple of other small festivals, and for the next months, a couple of gigs have already been confirmed. Check out this girl, she might hurt your dancing feet!
